The most important lesson I learned about the Far Left came from the life if Leon Trotsky.

Trotsky was, in many ways, the Father of the Soviet Union.  According to a Russian historian:

Trotsky bears a great deal of responsibility both for the victory of the Red Army in the civil war, and for the establishment of a one-party authoritarian state with its apparatus for ruthlessly suppressing dissent… He was an ideologist and practitioner of the Red Terror. He despised ‘bourgeois democracy’; he believed that spinelessness and soft-heartedness would destroy the revolution, and that the suppression of the propertied classes and political opponents would clear the historical arena for socialism. He was the initiator of concentration camps, compulsory ‘labour camps,’ and the militarization of labour, and the state takeover of trade unions. Trotsky was implicated in many practices which would become standard in the Stalin era, including summary executions.

Still, he eventually fell out of favor with the more radical Josef Stalin, and ended up exiled and then murdered with an ice ax to the head.

At this junction, we must take a moment to marvel, once again, at American exceptionalism.

Three of the most historically influential nations of the world, the Untied States, France, and the Soviet Union, were all born of revolution.

Following the Russian Revolution, millions of Russians were murdered or worked to death in Siberia.  Many of the original architects off the Russian Revolution were executed or unpersoned by subsequent leaders, Trotsky is perhaps the most famous example, but he was by far not the only one.

After the French Revolution, thousands of French citizens were murdered under the Reign of Terror.  Many who were executed by Guillotine were leaders of the Revolution and had an hand in taking down the monarchy.

Following the American Revolution, there were no mass executions or prison camps for American citizens.   Those who were loyalists during the war were not tortured or exterminated by the victorious Americans.  Despite the rivalries and disagreements between our Founding Fathers, none of the signers of the Deceleration of Independence were ever murdered early US Presidents.

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog post…

No matter how important you were to the Far Left at the beginning, your head can always end up on the chopping block.

And the ice axes have come out for Liberal White Women.

They were useful when they were leading the #Resistance in their stupid pussy hats.

Now… not so much.

It is amazing just how much history repeats itself.

  1. Trotsky’s problem was that as ruthless as he was, he failed to recognize that Stalin was even more ruthless. He should have killed Stalin when he had the chance. Of course being a Jew, it is unlikely that Trotsky could have held the Soviet Union together after Lenin’s death.
