The aggrieved Left, which has had a year-long two-minute hate against police, immediately went from the Chauvin victory celebration to attacking a police officer in Columbus, Ohio.
The officer in question shot a 16-year-old black girl who was attacking two others with a knife.
While the fact that the girl was armed is irrelevant to them, it does matter to normies. Ergo, the Left needs to present this situation in a way that is palatable to the normies.
The way they have decided to do this is to make the argument that a knife fight really isn’t a big deal. This isn’t something new, we’ve seen this before in the concealed carry/gun rights debate over self-defense.
Now it’s being applied to this shooting.
The thing is, it ends up sounding ridiculous.

It was only a knife. It was just a knife fight.
This can only be made to suburbanites who have ever seen a knife fight except on TV and think about getting cut as something you put a bandaid on.
They don’t think about getting stabbed in the guts and having to live a life with a colostomy bag if you don’t die.
I think, or at least I hope, that this argument gets them out over their skis a little too much. I just don’t see “let teenagers stab each other, it’s no big deal” being a compelling argument in suburbia.
Your point about never seeing a knife fight or knife wounds is spot on, the usual suspects at work have been making the point that women and girls ( sexist ?) get cut all the kitchen ( sexist?) all the time cooking and its no big deal ( don’t even know anymore) and so for a cop to be afraid of a knife makes him a part of female anatomy ( see above).
The kiddies under those professors are passing around clips of Black Widow and Jessica Jones saying “see its not hard if you have enough training to take away a knife!”
I once sliced a finger on a lawn mower blade — that doesn’t mean I’d be OK with someone slashing me with a machete.
Judging by the Boston nightly TV news, knives are every bit as lethal as guns. The phrases “deadly stabbing” and “deadly gun violence” both occur every other day or so, about equally often. Anyone who thinks knife attacks are no big deal is not only stupid but has never paid any attention to the nightly news.
This was the definition of a good shoot and all the meek words being used by the gov is just dying the Dane geld.

Why the panic over there? Similar nation re: demographics, culture, etc… If knives are really harmless, there should be no effort to “cut down on knife crime”

You know this is an absolute no-win for the cops. If he hadn’t shot the girl with the knife they’d be screaming that he could have saved the other girl but he didn’t, he just let her get stabbed to death. Since he did save the one girl, they’re screaming that he killed the other one.
No-win.
