But he has always been an arrogant bastard anyway. Typical Liberal mentality: I am entitled, it is not my fault, somebody else must pay for it. I do believe he believes he will only face the Court of Public Opinion, Los Angeles which will empathize with his “suffering” and declare his actions does not raise to the level of pain “he feels” and let go free.
And that might be as far as it goes.

Our local TV played part of interview and I think I heard Baldwin say ‘I dropped the hammer’
Someone pointed that gun at people, and at the moment it happened, it was in Baldwin’s hand.

Had a discussion about this interview yesterday, and we have to take a step back and realize not everyone has as much firearms experience as we do.
Thinking back to the first time I was handed a gun, I had full trust in the person handing it to me. I was smart enough to keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, but I am 99% sure I had my finger on the trigger from the moment I took possession. And, the person I trusted did not correct me on that. I could have had a negligent discharge, and looking back, I am amazed at how stupid I was.
Baldwin has a staff/crew. He as the producer transferred a measurable level of responsibility to that staff. Being handed a gun by a person he trusted to be responsible. Being told it was not loaded and/or was safe. Not taking the effort to verify the gun was safe. All of that combined to result in death.
Baldwin carries a LARGE amount of responsibility for this death. However, all of this, (IANAL warning) is an effort to build reasonable doubt in the minds of any jury. IF this goes to a trial, everything he said in this interview is a basis for blaming the film crew, and minimizing any charges against himself.
(Which makes him a TOTAL A-hole.)
So the first time you were handed a gun, the person handing it to you was negligent about the basic safety rules and as a result neglected to teach them to you before handing over the gun. You were ignorant. (“The difference between ignorance and stupidity is that ignorance is curable” — Robert A. Heinlein.) He may have been ignorant or stupid, insufficient data to tell.
That doesn’t apply to the case here in any way shape or form. For one thing, he had an alleged professional gun expert on the staff, whose duties (always, as part of that job description) include teaching the basic safety rules to all who handle guns on that set. For another, Baldwin pretends to be a gun safety activist, that’s the self-assigned tag used by people who want to take our guns away. You can’t very well arrogate yourself that tag while at the same time trying to take a position that you’re too ignorant to know the basic rules of gun safety.
Yes on all fronts, and I agree.
However, the real point is deflection of blame and responsibility. He is building a case that it was not in any way his fault. And, depending on the jury, he may very well get away with it.
What is most amazing about this is his father was a shooting coach at the local HS. I do not know whether Alec ever shot in anyway, but I am sure he heard about the four laws several times in his life.
This is not about him being sorry etc… it is about avoiding jail time in the inevitable trial. I am sure he is hoping to avoid charges.

Basically Aesop’s writing comes down to “Baldwin isn’t guilty because he’s too f’in stupid to be held responsible for his actions and we who are not in the movie industry should just shut up because we’re too stupid to understand the movie industry.” And a bit of “Shut up, peasant, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Eh, either he’s too stupid to be held accountable, which means he needs to be put away into a mental health management system, or he’s smart enough to not be a ward of the state and thus is responsible for his actions.

Baldwin had jack and squat for responsibility because of 57 specific and legal reasons, all starting and ending with “the armorer entirely responsible for every aspect of weapons safety on that pic (as on every movie since ever) fucked up totally and absolutely, by the numbers, and was entirely criminally derelict on every single one of her duties and responsibilities”.
No points for guessing, out of everyone working on that movie, who the only person to lawyer up before speaking on the incident was.
You’ve got nothing substantive nor on point to contradict any of that rality, so you devolve to outright fabulism about what I said, despite every word of it being found in prior posts on the subject in this blog. That’s frankly pretty chickenshit of you, assuming you can tell the difference.
None of that diminishes what a complete piece of diaper spackle Baldwin is, both in general, and for lying about what happened now, but none of that makes him legally culpable. He’s just a piece of shit, which is always its own reward.
Something you might stop to ponder yourself before you let your mouth run away with you again.
Baldwin’s going to get off, not because of political considerations nor lawyer’s tricks, but because there’s exactly zero legal basis to charge or try him, let alone convict (as would come out in five minutes’ time at trial), and Gutierrez-Reed’s going to get maxxed (all paltry 18 months in prison, which in itself is a crime) if she hasn’t the wit to rapidly plead out, and the only cheery thought in all that is that at the end of the day, Baldwin’s still going to be the one who held the gun, pointed it, and pulled the trigger, and he’s going to be tagged with that death even years after he’s dead and gone, and he deserves every bit of the karmic crap that attaches to him for the rest of his life.
Content yourself with that, instead of disparaging me for telling you the truth, no matter how much it sets your teeth on edge to hear it.
