The U.S. women’s soccer team turned in another lackluster performance at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, but its 0-0 tie with Australia still advanced the top-ranked Americans into the quarterfinals as a second-place squad in group play.

They are not only win-less but score-less. That is an indicator of a team that sucks the big one and has a huge probability to be massacred by better teams down the road.
The U.S. will play the Netherlands or Brazil in Yokohama on Friday, AP noted.
Both Netherlands and Brazil male soccer teams have a long history of outstanding soccer and if anything got transplanted to women’s soccer, it will be a murder for the US Team. A well deserved one because they disrespected their country and the game with their politics.
Not defending them but they beat NZ 6-1.
I keep being amazed at women’s soccer in Europe. When I grew up there (admittedly that’s 50+ years ago) girls did NOT play soccer. Not at all. Field hockey, yes, but soccer was exclusively a men’s sport.

And disrespected the Olympics themselves.
The Olympics is intended as a friendly competition between otherwise-rival nations, completely separate from political issues and distinctions. It’s a chance for athletes to represent their nations on the world stage, not hype up obscure political issues.
Yet the “Woke” thing to do is to not only inject politics into an apolitical event, but to make the political issues front and center, slather them all over, and rub politics in everyone’s faces. (Hey Rapinoe, I promise the other nations’ players care less about your stupid “causes” than they do about beating you — and have spent the last year training to do just that.)
The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team doesn’t just deserve to lose. They deserve to be routed so hard that their pet issues actually lose support.
There’s a time and place for political grandstanding. The Olympics is not it.
(I will make exceptions for calling out actual oppression and violations of human rights; historically, real genocide, slavery, and oppression in smaller countries get ignored unless forced before the world’s eyes. But “Woke” issues are nowhere near that scale — regardless of what Woke-sters think.)
