And for some reason, I have the feeling that Harris will rather quit that becoming president. I don’t think she is deluded enough to believe she could do the job or survive whatever mess is coming because Biden’s weaknesses that surely have emboldened our enemies. Do you see the VP dealing with a 9/11-type situation without losing her mind?
And the line of succession gets even worse. Don’t bother looking unless you want to ruin the rest of your day.

If Harris becomes President, she will have to name a VP. The Speaker of the House does not automatically become POTUS unless both the POTUS and VP die.

Re items 2 and 3 on the succession list: there is some question on whether Constitutionally those two are valid. The issue is that the Constitution says you can’t be in Congress and hold other office at the same time. But if Pelosi tried to avoid that conflict by resigning from the House, that doesn’t help because at that point she would no longer be Speaker, hence no longer the purported #2 in the succession sequence. (Article 1 section 6.)
And she will have to be confirmed by the Senate . . . Which will be 50/50 without a tie-breaker.
No, TX; confirmation applies to the appointment of a new VP if the current one either moves up or out. Also, that confirmation requires a majority of both houses. See 25th Amendment, section 2.
Everyone wants to be the captain until the ship catches fire. First Mate Harris thought she was signing up for a nice, easy pleasure cruise- she’d get to take over in due time, would get the usual diversity hire Stunning and Brave plaudits, and would get to coast through a term or two like Obama did.
Now the ship is on fire, Captain Biden is stumbling around in a senile daze, half the crew is looking mutinous, and those lifeboats are looking downright appealing at the moment.
The fact that she’s basically already bailed is a pretty key indicator of her intentions and attitude- she picked ‘flight’, not ‘fight’, and made a run for Singapore. While distancing may work for one of one hundred Senators, it doesn’t work for the Veep. It’s not going to give her a “fresh start”, especially since the compliant media isn’t and hasn’t really pushed the narrative in that direction. They should be pushing, right now, the idea that she’s already working to step in and take over, not leaking stories about how toxic she is, or how she doesn’t want to get tied into this mess.

Maybe, maybe not, but her actions are showing that she really doesn’t want the job.
Biden/Harris reminds me of Nixon/Agnew. We knew we had to get rid of Nixon but no one wanted Agnew as president so they made sure to get rid of Agnew first. I think we need to do the same now. Replace Harris with someone competent, THEN get Biden to resign. The problem is how to get Harris to resign.
