‘It’s fight night’: Disturbing video captures teen mob beat up off-duty firefighter

This is the moment an off-duty New York City firefighter walking his dog in a Queens park is attacked by a vicious mob of teens — one of whom kicked off the beatdown by declaring it was “Fight Night,” disturbing new video shows.

The 44-year-old victim said he was strolling with his 3-year-old Labradoodle Dylan in Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village at around 9:55 p.m. Friday when he was suddenly targeted by the mob.

“There were at least 100 kids … I was walking my dog. They just picked me out and approached me,” the still-shaken victim, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Post Saturday afternoon.

“One kid took his shirt off and said, ‘it’s Fight Night!’ He said he was 19 and said, ‘I could fight you.’ Everyone took their cell phones out. There were cell phones everywhere,” he explained. “They all came at me…A kid came up behind me and hit me in the back of the head with a bottle and I let go of the dog,” he said.

A large mob jumped this man and beat him up after hitting him in the head with a bottle.

This was a potentially lethal attack.

The media edits the video so I found an unedited one on Twitter:

Despite what Joe Biden says, you might need a gun that holds 20 rounds and several more full magazines, because you might need to start carrying to be able to defend yourself against a mob.

  1. Disparity of force, in a normal jurisdiction, would suggest a deadly force response.

    In NYC, perhaps not. 😔

    1. Never mind disparity of force. Bashing someone on the head with a fist or a blunt object is deadly force, justifying defense with deadly force. Certainly that’s the way it works in civilized states — which obviously excludes NY.

  2. We had this happen up here in one of our city parks. Punks were attacking “white” people. They ended up killing a guy 33 yrs old. It was a llloooonnng time before they caught the ones that did it.. people will get fed up SOMEDAY….

  3. There gonna cry like babies when 60 of the rabid dogs get put down in 1 feel swoop.

    I’m gonna laugh.
    Cause They earned it

    1. And friends with a belt-fed on overwatch. That’s just too big of a crowd to deal with up close if you aren’t in a vehicle.

  4. Even with a standard-capacity magazine, a crowd that close and in that kind of mood would likely overwhelm a single person, even if they had enough rounds for everybody.

This is not to say I don’t think the person should have the capacity to try. I just think that, if you find yourself in that situation, you’re more likely to pick up some escorts for the trip, rather than make it out unscathed or alive, regardless of what you’re carrying. (The sudden blow to the back of the head, right away, obviates that.)

On the other hand, if one were carrying a flamethrower…

  5. Notice when the police did show up, they stayed in the van, blipping the siren. No one got out with a baton to beat the slow persons in the mob and get them moving faster.

The NYC police have learned. They will not get involved. Ain’t worth it. No aggression unless ordered to by the Supervisor. Write the report, collect the evidence, and go home at the end of your shift. Staying Fetal as Second City Cop called it.

    1. I seriously wonder what the cops are going to do when people start potting these lowlifes. Do the police really think the shooters are going to come quietly after ventilating a half-dozen ferals?

My advice to cops? If you see the guns come out for these vermin, don’t even blip the siren. Just get away. Someone willing to mow down these germs is a short step away from adding a badge to their trophy rack.

      1. The police aren’t afraid of lawfully armed citizens. …and I really do not like where this train of thought is going to lead, so I’ll stop right there.

  6. “…I really do not like where this train of thought is going to lead, so I’ll stop right there.”

And one place it could lead is: If there’s video (and thre’s always video) there will be faces on the video; faces allow identification of individuals; individuals can be located; when located, ex post facto problem resolution can be applied.

If the event cannot be stopped while in progress, elimination of the possibility of any future events is one potential “where it could lead.” And, quite probably, no one will notice, if the process is conducted with attention to discretion. See: Plisskin, Snake for further information.

As a side note, Amazon sells baseball cats with plastic protective liners, and the liners are available separately to equip your favorite cap. They don’t offer much protection, but “some” beats “none.”

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
