Three suspects were arrested and being charged for their alleged roles in a drive-by shooting in Yonkers that injured four people on Thursday.
Yonkers police arrested 21-year-old Andre McKenzie, of Greenwich Connecticut; 18-year-old Tyrese White, of Mount Vernon; and an unidentified 17-year-old male suspect, also from Mount Vernon – who is believed to be the alleged shooter.
Police say McKenzie was the driver in Thursday’s shooting. Officials also say White is currently wanted by the NYPD on a bench warrant for a prior robbery charge and the Mount Vernon Police Department for a prior assault charge.
Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller says all three suspects are being charged with second-degree attempted murder, felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Investigators believe that the motive for the shooting is gang-related and that the shooter was possibly targeting rival members.

I will have to give props to the Mayor of Yonkers, he could have gone the “Gun Violence” route and repeat the latest talking points, but he placed the blame on people, not the objects.

Mayor Mike Spano stated, “The Yonkers Police Department is unmatched. These individuals are now in custody and off our streets thanks to the relentless work of our tireless men and women in blue. Let this be a call to those persons who seek to inflict harm on others in our City. I am directing every resource available to aid us in combatting this war on our community, streets, and on the lives of the hard-working residents of this city. Violence will not prevail.”
