They deserved 3 or 4 more, IMHO.
My dad was in San Luis Obispo, training for the invasion of the Japanese Home Islands. Needless to say he was rather relieved Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed and the Japanese finally surrendered.
P.S. He hadn’t yet met my mother. So there was a better than even chance I wouldn’t be here if the invasion took place.
