Trying to get the Catholic vote, I see.
In my youth, when we got those, it always looked more like a bad thumb print than a cross, it was gone in a day or two, and those days we spent rubbing our eyes as ash flaked off and fell into them.
Heck, maybe she got one. But an external mark does not a believer make, nor is it intrinsically a sign of a good person.
I mean, there’s a reason the Gospel for Ash Wednesday tends to be taken from the early verses of Matthew chapter 6.
