I am gonna take a bit of exception with the sign in Spanish: “El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido.” (People Together Shall Never be Defeated).
You see, many Hispanics have indeed heard that chant at least 20 times in their lives and 99.9% of the times came out the mouths of revolutionaries like Castro, Che Guevara, Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez, etc. basically every communist son of a bitch that killed hundred of thousands of fellow Hispanics and pushed the countries into misery. Basically, you are not bringing very fond memories to many of us. In fact, you are being rejected for the idiocy you are pulling.
But, I want to thank you for making your protest even more irrelevant and laughable.
“El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido.” (People Together Shall Never be Defeated).
Err, you may want to rethink that sentiment a bit…. I don’t think it worked out real well for people such as the Germans, Japanese or the Carthaginians. It kinda depends on just what side you are on and how bad you piss off the opposition. Just saying.
Let’s count the stereotypes in that pic from NYC: Ben & Jerry’s hoodie, murse, power fist, vehicle with Florida plates, probably some others.
It’s a satchel!
Ah yes. Reminds me of the brilliant words of Terry Pratchett:
William: “I’m sure we can all pull together, sir.”
Vetinari: “Oh, I do hope not. Pulling together is the aim of despotism and tyranny. Free men pull in all kinds of directions.
If you have not read Pratchett, you should read Pratchett.
“The people, united, will never be ignited!”
(Another of Pratchett’s — a chant used while protesting dragon attacks.)
Little boy, Roosevelt the Greater would have wiped you off of his shoes. Conjure not by His Dread Name lest he be summoned… and displeased.
