This week the Governor of New York blamed budget shortfalls on the state of Florida.
He said New Yorkers are fleeing to the sunshine state to save big time on taxes.
It all goes back to the tax reform passed by Congress. The changes increased the incentive to move to the sunshine state dramatically.

And that is gonna be our future problem. We are going to have voters that will default to the same idiocies they are escaping because it is what they know. Next thing you know, we are voted to hell with gun control and taxes and stupid feel good legislations. Don’t forget that Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Forest Hills, NY.
Californians that could afford it fled to Colorado, and immediately started to implement the same laws that caused them to flee CA.
The problem here is not that liberals are fleeing liberal hell holes. It is that there are still too many leftists left behind in the liberal hell holes that actual, clear thinking individuals can move there and turn it around. California (outside of the cities) is a beautiful state, so are most parts of NY (outside the NYC metro area). I could definitely see myself living in those environments.
However, it will be generations before a deep blue pit of despair like NY loses enough leftists to make it a good place to live politically.

Time to pass a law making gun ownership in FL mandatory for prohibited persons.
That should say “non-prohibited persons,” I.e., all relocated New Yorkers must buy guns.

Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) has suggested a “welcome wagon” approach to newcomers from liberal areas. Point out that “the way we did it ‘back home'” is why they decided to move.
I say it’s time to close the borders. No more New Yorkers, Illinoisans, New Jerseyites – nobody from a liberal enclave moving here to escape. Or not let them vote for at least a decade. Call it their last tax payment to their home state.

Transplants from the Socialist states are required to stomp on the images of various leftist saints- Obama, Hillary, Che, Milk, Ruth Ginsburg, AOC, and so on.
If they happily stomp on the faces, they pass.
