He is a Democrat and Leftist. He lost to Madison Crawford in the 2020 election for Congress.
Because he is a veteran, the narrative is that he is a paragon of virtue and patriotism (Conservative lions zing of the military to come back to bite us) and he believes that the young man who beat him for the Congressional seat is worse than the Al Qaeda terrorists at Gizmo.
When The Purge comes, Davis will come out of retirement with alacrity to prosecute every Trump supporter as a domestic terrorist.
Ideally, he’ll prosecute Crawford himself, then take that seat in a special election, because when Democrats do it, it’s not corrupt or a conflict of interest.

I don’t think that being a REMF lawyer really counts as “veteran”.
