CSGV are scumming F**** but we already knew that.

The group points to the $27,250 that Barrow has received from the NRA over eight years. The quote from CSGV executive director Josh Horwitz: “Representative Barrow has been bought for the price of a new truck. It would be laughable if his lack of regard for our families’ safety wasn’t so dangerous.”

Here’s the problem: The CSGV has done some selective editing in its video. In its version of the ad, Barrow displays a pistol and says:

“Long before I was born, my grandfather used this little Smith & Wesson here….”

It cuts the Augusta congressman off there. How did Barrow finish the sentence in the original, and what did the CSGV choose to omit? This:

”…to help stop a lynching.”

Around here, those five additional words make a big difference.

More reasons to keep an eye on the Cult to Stop Gun Rights Violence. These asshats will get desperate enough to pull some crazy crap.

  1. What’s worse is, before CSGV’s selectively edited guilt trip hit piece, Barrow already ranked highly amongst those most likely to capitulate to the gun grabbers’ “commonsense” nonsense — he doesn’t deserve gun owners’ backing and will prove it.

  2. I posted the link to the CSGV video and the Original John Barrow video to my group page and told them to spread it far and wide… I”m fixing to go post it on Twitter with the hash tag #CSGVLIES I expect to get twitter gulagged for this one. *shrug* that’s okay though because I’ve got several email accounts to create twitter accounts with and I can create more accounts than they’ve got members. *evil grin*

  3. I did notice that those were Gran’pappy’s revolver, and Pappy’s bolt action rifle–not the EBR (Evil Black Rifle) everyone’s so het up about these days. Wonder how he’d feel about those?

However, it’s good to see the real video and compare it to the hatchet job the CSGV did.

Those people make Piers look like a shining example of journalism. Yecchhh!

  4. Oh, it gets even funnier. Ladd Everitt’s attempt to defend their unethical ad:

Asked about the omission of the line about stopping a lynching, Everitt said he was “unable to confirm” Barrow’s claim about his grandfather.

“I think most Americans would understand that if you look at the history of lynchings … there were probably precious few instances where white men with guns prevented lynchings,” he said. Everitt added that the point was to highlight Barrow’s ties to the NRA and resistance to new calls for gun control.

“We didn’t have time to run his entire campaign ad,” he said.
