Best comment about SOTU Address.

I found out that is more fun to follow SOTU via Social media than actually watching it. Best comment so far was in Facebook from a fella named Dave B. regarding Obama’s comments about Violence Against Women:

my wife threw the whistle away and bought a 380…

I can’t fault the logic. Especially in light of this:

The bill authorizes $659 million over five years for VAWA programs. It also expands VAWA to include new protections for LGBT and Native American victims of domestic violence, to give more attention to sexual assault prevention and to help reduce a backlog in processing rape kits.

via In VAWA Vote, Senate Overwhelmingly Passes Violence Against Women Act.

Let me repeat that again: and to help reduce a backlog in processing rape kits.

Even though the number of reported rapes has dropped 20% from 1994 to 2010, it is obvious VAWA did not turn out to be the magical panacea promised. In comparison, the number of murders & non-negligent manslaughter has dropped by half in the same period matching the timeline of more and more people deciding to stop waiting for the Government to keep them safe and exercising their right of self-defense by not only buying guns but also helping to pass legislation that actually favors the law-abiding in cases of attack by criminals and not the other way around.

I think it is time to cut the BS and do the two things we know work: Tougher sentencing for Sexual Predators (no deals) and let women be responsible for their own safety…. and not by using a whistle or a tongue depressor or fouling themselves.

  1. *rubs eyes* Son of a Bitch! I should be bleeding from my eyes. I do a multipart vivisection/response to the SOTU on my blog. I call it the State of DisUnion, the last couple years. I just spent the last 2.5hrs slogging through parts 2 and 3. Sooo…parts 1,2, and 3…they’re up and live. Ugh. I’m quitting because trying to slog through the 4th and final part tonight might make my brain revolt…
