Because Mel Brooks

So he left his imprint (way too overdue IMHO) in the concrete of the Chinese Theater in a way that you had to say “Yup! That is Mel.”

But what else would you expect from the guy who brought us:

Inga: Werewolf!
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Werewolf?
Igor: There.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: What?
Igor: There, wolf. There, castle.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Why are you talking that way?
Igor: I thought you wanted to.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: No, I don’t want to.
Igor: [shrugs] Suit yourself. I’m easy.

  1. Funny that you posted this today. My oldest daughter just realized, and posted it to Facebook, that Mel Brooks Isn’t the same person as Mel Gibson. Seems she never understood why Mel Gibson looked so different in History of the World Part 1.

    Until today.

I swear I never dropped her on her head.

  2. Most people don’t realize what kind of badass Mel Brooks was. During WWII he was combat engineer and diffused land mines. Being the consummate comedian, when the Germans set up loud speakers to blast American troops with Nazi propaganda, we worked engineers and signal corps to set up American loud speakers and play music by Jewish singers right back at the Germans.

  3. About damned time, Corporal!

First damned Combat Engineer I’ve ever seen with EXTRA fingers. Usually, if the count is off, they’re short some portion of their initial issue. . .
