And this all you need to know about The Opposition.

America is held hostage by flyover states.

The predominant narrative coming out of the 2016 presidential post-election analysis is: The flyover states have spoken. A flyover state is the huge region between the coasts. As opposed to the eastern seaboard, northern post-industrial states and Pacific Ocean states. They’re overwhelmingly Republican, stanchly conservative, regressive right wing, evangelical Christian and working class, well, the loudest, most ill-informed of them are. The term wasn’t commonly used in a political manner until recently with the emergence of the Tea Party and the election of Obama.

By the way, their version of eastern seaboard, stops at Norfolk. Anything else south of it is Redneck Country and Tony Montana Land.

I have this nagging feeling that if they could tent & treat flyover country like a house full of termites, they would not think about it twice.

  1. Oh, yeah. That would be the folks who feed you, fight your wars, find/refine/transport your oil, and make the stuff you require every single day. Those are the folks who are “holding you hostage”, right?

  2. The irony here is that that the flyover states were perfectly content letting those on the coasts do what tickles their fancy for themselves. You wanna do stupid stuff…we don’t care. Just leave us alone.

But they decided to hold US hostage by deciding that every idiot law they wanted to pass on themselves should also be forced down our throats. And they kept doing it until we finally said “f*** you, we’re done being nice…you realize we actually have the power to take all 3 branches of government, right?” and shoved back…hard.

So, of course, now we’re the bullies according to them. But it’s like the guy that takes your lunch money every day calling you a bully because you kicked him in the shins when he wouldn’t stop.

In New York state, anything west of the Hudson River is considered Bloomberg’s “flyover country”, and those of us living here are considered backwater oddities. Which is a description I’ve come to love, really. Actually, any condemnation from big city progressives winds up being something I wear with honor.
