Stars on a military uniform is like a blue checkmark on a Twitter account, it indicates that the person is a complete f**king moron

I said it, I’m not taking it back.

This Tweet is real but recently deleted.

The problem was, those are British soldiers.

For those of us civilian gun nuts, we might recognize the SA80 rifles as being British and not American.

Other details like the lack of lower leg pockets found on ACU pants are more subtle but noticeable.

Real eagle eyed military people might notice things like the helmet covers and other differences in equipment and uniforms.

But Lieutenant General Maria R. Gervais didn’t notice any of that.

Which is concerning considering that she is Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

The head of TRADOC can’t tell an SA80 from an M4.

Any modern Major General should be able to tell at sight a Mauser Rifle from a javelin.  The superior rank Lieutenant General should be able to do better.

As it was pointed out to me by a buddy, LtGen Gervais has a Masters Degree in Human Resources.

She’s a glorified HR Lady.

I was reminded that Secretary of Defense and former 4-star General Lloyd Austin has a Masters in Counseling and Education.  The same degree as your average high school principal who demands elementary school students wear masks on the playground.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley has a MA in International Relations.  Arguably somewhat useful, but it’s from Columbia and is part of their business program.  It’s the sort of degree earned by international corporate executives.

Human Resources, Counseling and Education, International Business Relations, not a fucking warfighter among our senior staff, just government and corporate bureaucracy degrees.

This is why we lose wars.

Our military is lead by HR ladies, high school principals, and the corporate executive who got a bonus laying you off to expand manufacturing in some third world shithole for pennies on the dollar.

Frum is wrong on every part of this

Really?

Which part of Afghanistan gun culture?

Can I walk around with a full auto military surplus machine gun and drive an old Toyota with a 50 cal, 14.5mm auto cannon, or recoiless rifle mounted in the bed?

No, I wish, but no.

How about the part where a paramilitary terrorist organization confiscates civilian owned guns so they (the terrorists) can oppress the population?

Not in Texas, maybe California soon enough?

What about the gun culture were people who speak out about the tyrannical regime get murdered by the regime’s paramilitary thugs?

No, that’s Portland.

So tell mr which aspect of Afghanistan gun culture is in Texas?

Oh yeah, none of it.  The point is to equate Texas with the Taliban to make all the good-thinking people hate them.

Frum’s job isn’t to be right, it’s to feed the moral superiority and hatred of those on his side.

Why going to the range is not a game.

While doing the range test of the TN Enhanced permit, the Missus ended up with a “little” reminder of why you always take seriously your time shooting.

A .22LR case ejected from her pistol and landed pretty as you please in her arm. It did not bounce or roll off, but stayed there. The Missus being the smart and safety conscious person that she is and burning pain notwithstanding, kept the gun pointed downrange and simply blew over the shell which was enough to roll off her arm.

She finished the test, scored a 99 and came home with a reminder of her tests that was not simply the paper target.

And that is why she scares me 😀

Enhanced Concealed Permit Class at On Target Shooting.

And we are done with that portion of the show on our way to get the permit. How was it? The class at On Target Shooting Sports was informative  and actually entertaining.  Our instructor was Ryan McCann who has a natural talent for making the teaching of the basics of TN Carry Law entertaining while making very good points across so they stay in your brain. I had read some of the law if not most online, but I wanted to see how it actually differed from Florida and make sure I got those distinctions which I had not and were eye openers. I will continue to get ,more info ’cause this is stuff you cannot stop from learning.

After the classroom part, we went to the range to do the authorized shooting of the angry BB’s and show we don’t suck at firearms safety or basic handling and accuracy. I got my ass handed over by the missus.

I believe she was the higher score of the class. I scored a 97 but I was all over the effing place having myself only to blame for getting flustered about a flyer.

The tests for the classroom portion was not bad but was not a gimme either. It was designed by the State of Tennessee and I believe at sometime during the writing, some corn-based spirits may have been involved in the writing and editing:

Overall? 4 thumbs up for On Target as store, range and teaching facility. I believe you will see more postings about them because they do offer more training and Lord knows I need it.
