A “lone gunman” remains at large after killing at least four people and seriously injuring several others in the eastern French city of Strasbourg near its famed Christmas market visited by millions.
The authorities are treating the attack as a terrorist act. Anti-terrorist prosecutors have opened an investigation.
A manhunt involving police and soldiers is underway with French media saying the gunman was on the loose but had already been “identified” as being on a list of “security threats”.
The gunman was wounded by soldiers on patrol as part of France’s Sentinelle anti-terror operation but managed to flee, said police.
Strasbourg has a very well know Christmas Market and that is where the “previously known to ant-terrorist authorities” killer made his attack.
It’s not a terrorist attack. Merkel said that wouldn’t happen.
It’s a diversity celebration.
