abc-news-staged-crime-scene

ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis stood in a field in Woodruff, South Carolina, and relayed the gruesome details of how a 30-year-old woman had been held captive in a storage container allegedly by a registered sex offender. Behind her, yellow police tape with the words “SHERIFF’S LINE DO NOT CROSS” flapped in the wind, indicating the scene of the crime. In fact, the police tape was tied to ABC News’ own equipment just off-camera, a photograph obtained by CNNMoney shows. Sources with knowledge of the matter say the tape was placed there by ABC News for the purpose of its inclusion in the live shot.

And they still can’t figure out why people think they are not trustworthy.

  1. Well… You know…

Look, not defending it, but is it really any different than having a “newsroom” in the background of the nightly news? Do you really think the people at those desks are intently searching for information, and investigating the next breaking story?

Now, if they hired on a few actors, and had them doing CSI forensics on a storage container they had brought in. Well, then they would seriously deserve all the ridicule they received.

    1. I would call this different. This is supposed to be “on scene”, not something we know is set up to look good like a newsroom shot. If you are on scene, but decided to add props for added “drama” you are in effect fabricating news. What you show on camera will be assumed to be real, so if there is police tape in the shot I will assume the police are present, they have cordoned off an area, and the news crew is not allowed to get closer. That is obviously not what is happening in this shot. In fact with the release of this picture I have doubts that there are police on scene at all. As far as I know they went and found a chain link fence miles from the alleged crime scene. Who is to say what other parts of the story are fabricated. (not that I trusted the MSM in the first place. As far as I am concerned this is just another single data point in an ocean of mistrust)

    2. I think you disproved your own assertion when you said “Do you really think the people at those desks are intently searching for information, and investigating the next breaking story?”

Exactly…normal people don’t think that. You know it’s just for the sake of setting the mood.

And if this were just a wall in the studio that had some sheriff tape on it and was obviously for similar purpose then, again, not a big deal, we all know it’s for the sake of setting the mood of the visuals to the story, they’re not actually trying to convince us that that wall in the studio was the crime scene.

But that’s wholeheartedly different then actually trying to convince people you’re at the crimescene when you’re not. Making a pretty backdrop and being genuinely fraudulent with the intent to deceive are really not on the same page as each other.

  2. Ah, the “water carrying whores for Obama, the Hildabeast, and the Democrats” used props you say.

My concern is more the absolute institutional bias against all things decent like conservative values and Christianity.

Hence we see them cheerleading for abortion, sexual perversion, and gun control while excusing the crimes of this administration and the Hildabeast.
