And the dumb ass that forgot to click the frigging button in the fob was me.

They took only a CRKT fixed blade knife I had for emergencies, not an expensive one, I think I paid under $50 from a buddy who was a  distributor. He/they opened my “Oh Sh*t! kit, dumped the contents but took nothing. Paperwork and other stuff intact, then again other than the kit, there is nothing of value in the truck plus it is a frigging mess inside (on purpose) so it is not a palatable vehicle to search.

What is embarrassing besides forgetting to lock the truck is that I get the nightly MDPD notifications:

Serves me right for getting cocky.

  1. Happens to all of us at some point, we’re all human and brain fade happens, especially when under chronic stress. I’m just glad the theft wasn’t worse. And, of course, you have the right attitude re takeaway lessons.

  2. What a sad state of life that we need to be so security conscious.

But it probably has been like this for eons, don’cha think?

“Thor, did you bring in the clubs and roll the rock in front of the cave tonight?”

In either case, the animals prowl at night.

  3. Burglars are the worst predator. Like raccoons, they steal, destroy, and remove peace of mind. In a perfect world, they’d be caught, and disposed of in a timely manner.

  4. They put a rock through my car window last month. Didn’t get to the trunk, so there get home base was ok. Did get a large pocket knife and my glass breaker from the glove box. A week later they broke the window out of my pickup.

  5. Oddly enough, I have more hate for sneak theives than most criminals. Like hard goodbye level that is way beyond of the actual crime committed.
