I’m not sure I would use the term “writer” for someone who is conspiring to do what is described in that tweet. “Butcher” is more accurate. Or “satanist”.
Just what I was going to say. The “woke” can’t create anything new — they can just twist and corrupt what already exists to their purposes, inevitably draining it of any of the spirit that made it good.

You know there is little life in a culture when there is no real creativity being produced. Just regurgitated fumes, like gas from a corpse.
Welp. My copy just tripled in value. Not that I’d ever sell it. Much more valuable to keep it and make sure my kids absorb the lessons.
But now I feel a hankering to buy several more copies….
Anyone want to bet the book is “revised” to make Big Brother into a nationalist, populist, fascist entity (how the modern left sees the MAGA movement) with the protagonist lamenting her lack of access to unlimited abortion?
Oceania is something to strive for….the only reason it was corrupt and evil is because of toxic masculinity.

I read up on this a bit….its not necessarily a retelling, but a companion to the original book. Same story, different POV through Julia. That doesn’t mean they won’t cock this up, but for now, I’ll withhold judgement.
The question is does this NEED to be done? Was anyone really wondering about this being told? Probably not. I’m a fan of Soderberg’s Ocean’s 11, 12, 13 series. Fun movies. When Ocean’s 8 came out in 2018 to appease the feminists with all female cast, I didn’t even bother. Same with the all female Ghostbusters sequel.
Maybe it’s benign. But if so, it doesn’t need to be done. There’s zero reason to believe that a project described the way this one was can yield anything remotely comparable in merit to the original.
Before I pass any kind of judgement, I would like to remind everyone of “The Last Ringbearer”
It is a “retelling” of the Lord of the Rings from the perspective of Mordor. In it, Mordor is a nation moving toward industrialization. And, a bunch of greenies decide they need to destroy it in order to preserve their “idyllic” world. Which in reality was a horror of petty tyrant kings, squabbling among various factions, and the elves trying to lord over all of creation.
Could be interesting. Could be another Ghostbusters (2016) or Oceans 8.
I had planned to read 1984. I kept putting it off and putting it off and now I don’t have to read it. I’m living it!
