We are figuring out who the gun whore are:

Dick’s Sporting Goods has also suspended sales of certain semi-automatic weapons from all its stores across the country.

I never liked them much because they were arseholes anyway.

Also, last night Coloseum Software Corp posted in a freshly minted Facebook page that they will be holding a “No Firearms Sale Day” in January. Coloseum Software does the electronic versions of the bound book/E-4473 ATF form and Day of Or Trailers caught the thing as it was started. By the time I arrived at the FB page, several new anal orifices were being surgically implanted on them by and assorted range of people. I forgot to make a screen cap of the page and now it is gone.

Let’s see who else commits economical suicide.

UPDATE: The Second Amendment FB Page found a copy of the Coloseum Software pledge.

  1. Meh, I’m not so quick to turn my back on Dick’s. Picked up a good deal on an R700 on Black Friday. However, even with their Black Friday buy 1 get 1 half off on ammo, their ammo prices (and most accessories) are too high.

That said, I think they and Walmart have been brave just keeping guns on the shelves altogether. I suspect they are making a business decision, not a political one, by keeping ARs out of sight, at least for now.

  2. I haven’t bought anything at Dicks since they denied my brother’s purchase of a mini-14. They waited until he’d filled out all the paperwork, then told him they didn’t sell semi-autos to Illinois residents. When he pointed out that it was perfectly legal to own these firearms in IL, they just old him it was their policy. (this was an IN Dicks)

If they are going to make their own firearms laws for a political agenda, I can certainly find other dealers who do not engage in such practices and give my business to them.

  3. In 2004, we had a new retail shopping center open up with a Gaylan’s sporting goods store. Incredible selection of rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

When Dick’s bought Gaylan’s, the first thing they did was remove all of the handguns from their display cases. When I asked the store manager why, he said that it was Dick’s corporate policy – they catered to the “hunting crowd”.

I told the manager that was my last visit. When he asked why, I answered that the second amendment had nothing to do with hunting. I haven’t been back since.

  4. So Friday, January 25th is now national buy a firearm day???? Because that’s the only way I would participate in this. Best to thumb your nose directly at people like that.
