The problem with children is they do not understand being shocking is not the same as being clever.
Well this group was raised with or heard stories of Howard Stern’s radio show and how successful that was. Shocking? Yes. Banal and crude? Also yes. But clever? Eh, not so much.
Even so, the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers are some of the most clever, concise, and well-delivered commentary on the subjects of tyranny and freedom around. Not shocking at all (except for the brass balls it took to sign the DoI — King George was surely shocked to read it!).
So naturally, since they don’t realize that shocking is not the same as clever, not a single one of these people has read or understands any of it.
The problem with epater les bourgeois is that eventually, the bourgeois will use it to sell something.
So firearms are a normal, necessary, and healthy part of contemporary life? And for the farther-from-center, should not be subject to undue taxation and morally speaking can only be regulated by people who use such products?
That reminds me of a meme lampooning an anti-gun protester sporting a sign asking for women to be regulated like guns. It pointed out just what that would mean, probably not what the ignorant person in question intended. Things like “she wants to be locked up when not in use” and “she wants to be banned from public schools and airplanes”.
