The latest thing from Moms Demand Victims Action is the Lemonade Stand Protest.

MAD lemonade

In April, Congress gave America lemons when the Senate failed to pass common-sense gun legislation that would have expanded background checks on gun sales. Moms were shocked and disappointed at the Senate’s failure to act, but we were not deterred. During Congress’ August recess, we’re sending the message: “When Congress Gives Moms Lemons, We Make Lemonade!”

All across the country, Moms Demand Action chapters are holding lemonade stands at or near their legislator’s in-district offices to persuade them to get some gun sense. Drop by one of our lemonade stands to talk to members of Moms Demand Action, enjoy a glass of lemonade, make a donation, and fill out a postcard to send to your representatives in Congress demanding action. Upcoming lemonade stand events are listed on the right column; Check back daily for new events

Moms and kids at home can participate, too! Add a good dose of mom sweetness and gun sense to make your lemonade. Download our printable recipe card and write out what secret ingredient you’re adding—whether it’s 1 lb resolve, 2 parts determination, 100 calls to Congress, or something else to add punch to our mix. Then, take a photo of your card and send it to photos@momsdemandaction.org.

And that is why I had to laugh when I ran into this story:

Police in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, say a 12-year-old boy armed with a BB gun robbed a local lemonade stand being run by a group of younger boys.

According to Johnstown Sgt. Patrick Goggin, the preteen approached the stand and pointed a gun at a 10-year-old boy, threatening to shoot if the other boys didn’t hand over the money they had earned selling lemonade.

Is this a divine warning?

  1. Heh. I’m almost tempted to find one of those stands this weekend, stop by for a cup o’ lemonade (if its free), and when they ask me to fill out their little card, chuckle and tell them nope, I enjoy my freedom.

Or, I could open my own, and charge less than the Moms group. Hey, that’s just free enterprise, right?

  2. Should set up some lemonade stands at some shooting ranges, I could go for a tall cool one after popping off fifty or so rounds from my Kimber .45 and my Glock 9.
I’m SURE the activities at the range would raise the curiosity of the youngins and some would eventually approach a shooter and ask….CAN I TRY THAT???

  3. They are really getting the word out, so far there are 4 yes 4 lemonade stands in progress. But many more planned. I hope they open one in Houston, I will visit it for sure. My ingredients are brass/lead/gunpowder and throw in a primer and I am good to go. I will even take a picture with them, wonder if I will make the web site?

  4. Their platform is emotion-driven and aimed at your heart strings. They parade the little innocent children to show that you are pure evil for opposing them. That is craven. I do not respect them because their methods are impure and their motives are suspect.

A simple question, if their sweet little child at the lemonade stand was being attacked by a thug, would they prefer to be unarmed and await the arrival of police or to have a firearm to shoot the SOB dead?

I like the idea of being able to protect the innocent, so I will never give up my firearms. They are the ones that are morally defective for not caring enough about their children to protect them.

I also object to the lie of the “common sense” approach. We have background checks and they are worthless for stopping criminals from getting firearms. All the other suggestions they have for additional gun laws are equally ineffective against crime, but many are perfect for discouraging gun ownership and for confiscation.

  5. Sarcasm begin…

No, no, no… you don’t get it! The moral of the story is: “We have to ban all BB guns!” Won’t someone please think about the millions of innocent children being mowed down every day by BB guns?!?!

    Sarcasm end….

  6. Would love to see an NRA membership rep set up an adjoining FREE LEMONDADE table, replete with Eddie Eagle materials, NRA-ILA stuff, promotional items to give away, such as caps, keychains, decals, etc.

‘Round here, I’m thinking maybe the TSRA might do as well to set up yet another table, on the OTHER side of the frightmommy’s table from the NRA setup. Bracket fire, as it were?

Think there’d be some good video recorded that day!
