I just saw J. Kb’s post and I figured it was time to recheck the licenses in Florida to see where we stand.

Last year in May, Florida surpassed the 2 million active licenses mark.

Since then, we have added almost  180,000 more and under the misguided guide of an Anti Gun Secretary of Agriculture owned by Moms Demand.

That is about under 12,000 licenses per month or 600 daily (Mon-Fri weeks) or about 75 an hour of a working day.

Obviously the goal is to eventually hace Constitutional Carry, but I do love having stats like that, specially the one that says 16,439 licenses revoked since October 1, 1987

I sort of wondered how about Driver’s licenses? Is anybody keeping track of suspended licenses in Florida? Apparently not and I could only find an article from the Sun Sentinel dated from 2018

Nearly 2 million of more than 14 million registered drivers in Florida have suspended licenses, many for offenses that have nothing to do with driving.

Often they have no idea, because notice of their suspensions are mailed to the address on their license, and often that is outdated. But if they are caught behind the wheel, they could land in jail, face a criminal record and a mountain of fees to pay.

Florida suspends nearly 2 million driver’s licenses. Help may be on way.

That is 14.3% (as usual check my math) of driver licenses suspended.  How about revocations of CWL?  A pitiful 0.3% of all permits ever issued.

But we are the evil criminals…

  1. That 2.1 million is the number issued since ’87, the history of the program. There doesn’t seem to be a way to see how many permits are current so you can figure the percentage of the population that has one. Our state population is close to 22 million, so almost 10% of that number is the number issued, but that doesn’t mean 10% of the state has their CWFL.

BTW, note that right under where it said 16,439 were revoked, it said 1,343 were reinstated (revoked by mistake?), so only 15,096 were revoked.

    1. Si, I don’t think so. It says 4.68 million issued, 2.18 million valid. I interpret “issued” as what you said, the number issued since the start of the program whether currently valid or not. But 2.18 is labeled “valid” which means “not expired or revoked or otherwise canceled”. So if FL has 22 million people, that means 10 percent have a currently valid CC permit.

  2. South Carolina.
Active Permits as of January 1, 2019………..492,646
    Permits Issued in 2019………………………………84,097
    Permits Applications Denied in 2019……………1,706
    Permits Revoked in 2019……………………………1,095

SC only reports once a year. Probably around 570,000 now.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
