WASHINGTON — The National Rifle Association has rallied gun owners — and raised tens of millions of dollars — campaigning against the threat of a national database of firearms or their owners.

But in fact, the sort of vast, secret database the NRA often warns of already exists, despite having been assembled largely without the knowledge or consent of gun owners. It is housed in the Virginia offices of the NRA itself. The country’s largest privately held database of current, former, and prospective gun owners is one of the powerful lobby’s secret weapons, expanding its influence well beyond its estimated 3 million members and bolstering its political supremacy.

And what does the NRA call this database? Membership List…and Wine Shopping List, and NRA Instructors List……you get the idea.

Is this the best the Anti-NRA faction can come up with? I had this post written in my mind before I was fully awake and had my first cup of coffee!

And yes, the author is off by 2 million members which is a darn good indicator how disconnected he is from what is going on around him. Dear God: Keep him and the rest at that level of idiocy, Amen.

  1. Exactly. I could just as easily say “How The American Motorcyclist Association built a massive secret database of motorcycle owners”.

  2. Name one “PRIVATE” corporation that doesn’t keep a customer list. Now do we mind that, some do some don’t, but I for sure don’t want the GOVERNMENT having a list of GUN OWNERS or Motorcycle owners.

    HUGE DIFFERENCE

  3. I trust Ray-Ray the crack dealer more than I trust the government, in many ways.

At least I know where Ray-ray stands, and he isn’t trying to eliminate freedom for my “own good.”

Ray-Ray may be a lying, violent menance to society — but he isn’t trying to claim to be working for me while he’s destroying society.

  4. I just realized that Backpacker Magazine has a secret database on people that like to hike. Oh, and REI has a database on people that like outdoor recreation. And, Lowes has a secret database of the products I use in my home. And…. well you get the point…

Whoops! GunFreeZone has a database of my snarky comments now. I better shut up.
