That is why your seat is in the full upright position and your tray table locked. I never realized that flight testing included stressing the catches on the overhead luggage bins, or why there is more than one barf bag in the pouch in front of me.
Also a good illustration of why airlines stopped hiring former aircraft carrier pilots.
