Another “Self Flagellation” to appease the unruly mob. (But let the cash come in)

I got sent the Powells Book official press release on the Andy Ngo book. Here is an interesting extract:

Since the first published texts there have been calls to disown different printed work, and at Powell’s we have a long history of experiencing these calls, and the threats they bring with them, firsthand. Until recently the threats were from those who objected that we carried books written by authors we respected or subjects we supported. The threats were real but we could feel virtuous — we were bringing the written word to the light of day. We could feel proud of our choices, even when the choices created conflict.

Our current fight does not feel virtuous.  It feels ugly and sickening to give any air to writing that could cause such deep pain to members of our community. But we have always sold books that many of us would reject.  We have fought for decades, at Powell’s, for the right of a book to stand on its own. Doing so is one of our core values as booksellers.

Powell’s Commitment to Free Speech

How’s that again? “we carried books written by authors we respected or subjects we supported”

Mein Kampf: Adolf Hitler: Trade Paperback: 9780395925034: Powell’s Books

My Autobiography with the Political & Social Doctrine of Fascism By Benito Mussolini

Francisco Franco by Joaquin Arraras (He was the propagandist for Franco during the Spanish Civil War)

So the biographies of the three men that created and defined Fascism for the world are “subjects respected” by Powells, but Andy Ngo’s book makes them “feels ugly and sickening.”

It is just BS to appease the little local fascist, specially after the boatload of money that they know it comes with the amount of free advertisement provided, so they are still selling the book online. That is so Gracious and Brave!

If I buy the book, it won’t be via Powells, that is for sure.

Worst Governor Ever! DeSantis announces 500,000 seniors have been vaccinated.

And apparently no other states has come closer.

Having Publix locations be vaccination points is very smart, you cannot call yourself a Floridian if you do not know by heart how to get to your nearest sammich goodness supplier and assorted groceries. Hell, I have 6 Publix location within a 3 mile radius of my house.

An the church thing is gonna be a hit, specially if they make it a full day event with munchies, drinks and entertainment. I can imagine a Black church or two dishing out some honest-to-God BBQ to attract people.

I know “DeathSantis” (as the Left calls him) is hated by Democrats because of his support for Trump, but same as with Cuba, nobody is flocking northbound I-95 to NY or NJ to escape the virus and the government, but just the opposite.

Did I miss a Constitutional Amendment?

Did I miss a Constitutional Amendment?

Does the numbers of Twitter followers a President has change his Constitutional authority?

Are there milestones like at 10 Million followers he can pass a law without congress, at 50 Million he gets to be President for life?

I’m looking at Wikipedia and can’t see how Twitter followers affects the Executive’s powers or responsibilities.

I didn’t think this is something that the President should worry about, expect it seems that Biden is also a petty mean girl who really cares how many people on Twitter like him.

Another squad member goes totally off the deep end

It’s warfare to have been vaccinated and not wear a mask?

This is unhinged.  More than their usual level of unhinged.

It’s also leading down the path of “you weren’t wearing a mask do you are expelled from this body for assaulting other members.”

Might make the Left reconsider mass immigration from Mexico

Mayor tied to tree and beaten by furious voters after ‘failing to keep promises’
A mayor in Mexico who reportedly overpromised and underdelivered was met by an angry mob of voters who dragged him from office and tied him to a tree for two hours until he apologised

Fuming voters finally had enough of their blundering mayor, so they tied him to a tree.

The elected leader was subjected to an angry mob who roped him to a tree trunk and beat him.

Ramirez is reportedly known for his outlandish campaign promises, according to local reports.

American political violence ain’t got nothing on Mexico.

They take lying politicians and turn them into human piñatas and beating them until campaign promises fall out is more than what happened at the Capitol.

I’m surprised that Democrats would wants mass immigration from Mexico and promises them the moon given how local lying politicians are treated.

Worst Gun President Ever! just left us a nice gift.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) on Thursday finalized a controversial rule banning large banks from rejecting businesses based on their industry.

The move comes less than two months after the agency first proposed the regulations.

The rule makes it illegal for any bank regulated by the OCC with more than $100 billion in assets to reject a customer for reasons other than financial risk. Supporters and critics of the rule both say it is intended to prevent more banks from joining those who’ve stopped serving firearm companies and financing oil and gas drilling projects.

Regulator finalizes rule forcing banks to serve oil, gun companies.

Expect the Democrats to try to overturn this. Being able to choke the income pipeline of the Gun Culture would guarantee the bankruptcy of makers and dealers of anything gun related. But maybe it won’t be that easy:

As Comptrollers and staff in previous administrations have made clear in speeches, guidance, and testimony, banks should not terminate services to entire categories of customers without conducting individual risk assessments,” said Acting Comptroller Brian Brooks, who announced Wednesday he will leave the agency on Thursday.

“It is inconsistent with basic principles of prudent risk management to make decisions based solely on conclusory or categorical assertions of risk without actual analysis. Moreover, elected officials should determine what is legal and illegal in our country,” he said.

Banks have fiduciary duty to produce a profit for its investors. The banks that stayed away from Gun And Ammo Companies because of politics (including political pressure) missed in the income generated this year and that was breach of trust to their investors who should be royally pissed knowing they missed on money brought by the selling of over 20 million firearms and 9 billion rounds of ammunition this year alone.

Let’s hope the ruling stays put. You can always scare your stoner friends telling them the same shit will happen to them.

Hat Tip to whomever in Facebook sent me the info and now I can’t find who was it.

Best headline I read this week

Madison County man finds drugs in car bought from government auction in Tennessee

One Madison County family was in for an unwanted surprise when they opened the trunk of their newly purchased car. The deal they got at a government auction in Tennessee was full of heroin.

Rick Joyner tries to get all of his foster children their first car when they start driving. It was his foster son Tyrese Allen’s turn.

“I told him I could probably get him one for pretty reasonable and I did,” Joyner said. He found a working Ford Taurus for $500 on a government auction site, “The ones I look at are all drug seizures.”

Joyner made sure to speak with the officers, “It was full of junk and all kinds of stuff and they were like, ‘Whatever is in there, it’s yours.’ Cause I asked them if they ran a dog through it but they were like, ‘Nah, we got it all don’t worry about it.’”

They towed the car back to Alabama and popped the trunk. “We started pulling all this stuff out of the trunk and I saw this Walmart bag and I pulled it up and it had two bundles of something that was taped really, really heavy. I was looking at it and I thought, ‘Something don’t look right with this.’”

After making the discovery, Joyner called the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office has the evidence and says that the bag contained about 2 kilos of heroin worth approximately $300,000.

$300,000 of drugs for $500, not bad.

The Madison cops were decent about it.

I could easily see this going bad really fast.

“You are under arrest for posession of the drugs we sold you by accident at a police auction after we told you the car was clean.”

I wonder if it’s time to retire that dog too?
