How an American hero can lose some of my respect in a day.

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is a true American hero.  He was an Air Force fighter pilot and the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549, known a the “miracle on the Hudson.”

The movie Sully, based on his autobiography, is one of my favorite movies.  Between Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks, it so good, the scene where all the NYC water taxis come to help rescue the passengers of the crashed plane brings a tear to my eye, no matter how many times I watch it.

So it would be hard-pressed for someone like Sully to engender ill will from me, but he did.

He wrote an OpEd in the New York Times:

Capt. ‘Sully’ Sullenberger: Like Joe Biden, I Once Stuttered, Too. I Dare You to Mock Me.

It was in response to a video of Laura Trump making fun of Biden.

As a small boy in Denison, Texas, I remember vividly the anguish of being called on in grade school, knowing that I was going to have a hard time getting the words out; that my words could not keep up with my mind, and they would often come out jumbled. My neck and face would quickly begin to flush a bright red, the searing heat rising all the way to the top of my head; every eye in the room on me; the intense and painful humiliation, and bullying that would follow, all because of my inability to get the words out.

Those feelings came rushing back, when I heard Lara Trump mocking former Vice President Joe Biden at a Trump campaign event, with the very words that caused my childhood agony. “Joe, can you get it out?” Ms. Trump was seen saying onstage, as a few giggles are heard from an otherwise silent audience. “Let’s get the words out, Joe.”

Go watch the video in the link above.

She wasn’t mocking his stutter.  I don’t think most Americans know that Biden had one.

He does have a problem speaking in debates.  I don’t think it is because of a childhood stutter, but because he is an old man probably with early dementia.

He doesn’t stutter, he jabbers on nonsensically.

He has on multiple occasions done campaign events where he got the state he was in wrong.

And it’s wrong to mock a man with dementia.  If Bide dropped out of the race and said he had it, nobody would mock him for it.  That he keeps plugging ahead like he’s in full command of his faculties is mockable.

My grandfather had dementia, it was tragic, but he knew when it was time for him to retire and not run the business anymore.  He was only a few years older than Biden is now, and wasn’t running to control the US nuclear arsenal.

If Biden wins in 2020, by 2022 the US Secret Service is going to have to make sure President Biden is wearing pants before stepping out of the residence.

I can imagine this happening at a press conference.

President Biden: “I’ve signed a new trade deal with China.  I like how those Chinamen make noodles. *sloppy fart noise* Uh…”

USSS: *wrinkles nose* “We have a code brown.  Magoo discharged a live round.  Clear the press corps.”

I’m not saying that this is evidence the great Captain Sully has full-blown TDS.  Only that it seemed like quite a reach not worthy of a NYT OpEd.

Locked makes a difference.

WESTON, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for two males who they said were captured on surveillance video trying to break into multiple vehicles in Weston.
Video released Friday shows the two thieves trying to break into vehicles around 2:40 a.m. Jan. 12 that were parked outside a home in The Islands community, located on Camellia Drive and Island Way.
Detectives believe the same thieves also burglarized several unlocked cars in the same community, as well as another community. (Bold are mine)

Check the video in the link. It reflects what I have seen before: They do not care for cameras or motion sensor lights. It is a crime mostly without preparation or tools and they are counting on your laziness and absent-mindness and leave the car door unlocked.

NY Bail Reform spikes crime in New York City. No sh**, sherlock.

A sharp rise in citywide crime since 2020 began was sparked by New York’s new bail reform laws, which took away a judge’s discretion to hold repeat and possibly violent offenders behind bars, NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference Friday.

“In the first three weeks of this year, we’re seeing significant spikes in crime. So either we forgot how to police New York City, or there’s a correlation,” Shea told reporters in reference to the new laws

How bad?

Since 2020 began, as of Friday at midnight, robberies are up 32.5 percent, car theft is up 61 percent and burglaries are up 18 percent compared to the same time period last year.

And the numbers aren’t fractions either — a total of 233 more robberies have happened this year compared to last, 159 more car thefts and 125 more burglaries, just in the last three weeks.

Ladies and gents, we are barely but 25 days into 2020.  Gross calculations put it at 700 robberies (29 daily), 415 car thefts (17.5 daily) and 819 burglaries (34 daily) since the ball dropped in Times Square on Midnight plus one second on January First.

Then again, when you elect a government that sees you as a potential felon, it make sense you should support the laws that make it easy for you to remain free if you were to fully enter a life of crime, accidentally or otherwise.

The Derp Brigade is helping, right?

I had missed this one:

Look closely and you will see it.

When I talk about Political Optics, this is the shit I mean.  The image here says “I don’t actually do much shit but sit in the basement in front of my computer and jack off to Japanese Midget Lesbian Porn.

But wait, that is not all!

Let me see if I get this: You illegally used somebody’s trademarked logo for profit and political idiocy, get a Cease and Desist letter and think it is funny?

Stop helping, for the love of God!

Attention Florida: How effective was the 2A March in Richmond?

As much as I liked the demonstration, the reality of things told us it was too little, too desperately late. Virginia will be a California of the East and I don’t think anything can be done to stop it.  The March was an absolute waste of time as influencing the legislature or the Governor.

Let this be a warning to Floridians: We have a crapload of bad laws, some even worse than these in the committees right now. START CONTACTING ALL THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THOSE COMMITTEES!

You have the resources on the right hand side of the blog: USE THEM.

A lot of legislators will term out this year (why I am so scared, some already cashed the checks and don’t give a flock) and we need good replacements that understand their re-election is in our hands and that our former governor and now dear Senator Scott barely won the seat because too many of us were pissed off.

And for the love of God, go vote!
