You make this sound easy. A month back the broad daylight protests were in the middle of an 8 lane US highway that is a major artery though a small city. It also is one of the few ways of crossing the interstate that runs perpendicular to it. There pretty much wasn’t anyway of avoiding the area because no other streets could handle the traffic volume. This protest was designed to do this…
If you have to drive near a big city, or anywhere else a riot might pop up, remember the Law of Gross Tonnage. Leave the Prius at home and take the Tundra, or the Bradley.
(Yeah, lefties might leave a Prius alone. Maybe. I wouldn’t count on it, and I never did get around to building that pop-up plasma cannon to take advantage of all the electricity.)

I’d make one modification: as soon as they start pounding on your car, floor it. At that point they’ve shown intent to do you serious harm — and given recent history, you have a well founded reason to fear for your life.
Calling 911 ain’t gonna help much when the operator tells you that you’re in a ‘sanctioned protest zone’ and then calls you a racist before hanging up.

Sanctioned Protest Zone? Show me the signs. Show me the roadblocks. Show me the fucking protest permit submitted and approved.
