I know I have seen this many times in movies and TV.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department are looking for a man they said shot a Domino’s employee while trying to rob the pizza chain at a store in North Nashville.
The owner of the restaurant, who declined to give their name out of great, said he got there just minutes after the shooting.
According to the owner, the incident all started with a power outage. The owner of the Domino’s Pizza on Clarksville Pike said the shooter broke into their breaker box, cut the power to the restaurant and then ran in with a gun.
“At about 2:20 a.m., the power was cut to the store,” the owner said. “The team just kind of figured it was some kind of blackout. That can happen with all the construction that’s going around here.”
But this time it wasn’t construction.
“They opened the back door and there was a man with a gun standing right there,” the owner said.

They do not remain stupid forever. They change tactics so we must adapt, even when it is to counter Hollywood stuff.
Power goes out, make sure your neighbors are also blacked out before even thinking about breaking perimeter. And even so, don’t unless it is an emergency.
And have a gun and a good light.
This also suggests making sure your critical security/safety infrastructure (wifi hub, cable or DSL modem, etc.) is on a UPS, and so are the cameras if not battery powered.
When my places lose power the generators auto on, and certain devises activate and if it’s dark, all exterior lights auto on along with certain interior lights. I used to have a siren on auto but here in the Land of Lightning, nighttime storms during the rainy season occasionally shuts down power and the neighbors were affected. So deactivated this option. So, my places give the Hollywood inspired guest the Hollywood Treatment, of Lights, Camera, My Action.

The only assumption I make is that the worst of the worst is happening….until proven otherwise.
I would be surprised if Dominoes allowed employees to carry on duty.
Or just have the simple expedient of NOT putting your breaker box outside… For some reason this is standard in the south. I don’t get it.
That is the standard in my area as well. Just the main breaker, not the full box.
If I understand correctly it is to allow firefighters to turn off power without having to enter the building and search for the breaker panel.

Makes sense from a safety perspective, but no sense from a security perspective.
Fire fighters can just yank the meter. Does the same thing, but isn’t as easy for an asshole to do.
True, but yanking the meter leaves exposed live terminals, and people have been killed by that.
Correct, they can yank the meter, but does the city they work for allow it?
Talking about government making it “better” for everyone. Do not apply logic, reason, or common sense.
Read this ages ago about the gadgets you would see advertised to supposedly protect your valuables. Things like a safe that looked like a Pringles can, or a picture frame with a hidden compartment for papers, etc… A security expert said “Do not waste your money on this stuff. Do you really think the criminals are not reading the same news papers and seeing the same ads as you are?”
Fast forward to today.
Do you really think the criminals are not watching the same movies, TV shows, etc… as you are?
Or, to go one step further, getting the same training and equipment as you are. I watch a lot of channels online for tips on tactics and training. They all have access to that as well. If they are serious about their trade, they will train as well.
