The Second Amendment is about the right of the people to have the weapon necessary to defend themselves.
As we’ve know for a long time, the Left does not believe in the right to personal defense. They believe a monopoly of force belongs to the government.
They have resisted concealed carry, stand your ground, and other laws that protect the right of the people to self defense.
The believe this so strongly, they don’t want civilians to be able to protect themselves from genocidal terrorists.

The US has threatened to stop supplying rifles to Israel after their national security minister was seen handing them out to civilians.
The diplomatic spat was prompted by images on social media of Itamar Ben-Gvir giving rifles to community security squads across the country, according to Israel’s daily Haaretz.
The images appeared to show Mr Ben-Gvir distributing the arms at political events in Bnei Brak and El’ad, two towns near Tel Aviv.
After several days of diplomatic exchanges, Israel committed to distributing the weapons only through its police or army, although politicians can be present when they are handed out.
A state department spokesperson said: “President [Joe] Biden directed his team to ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself, consistent with international law, and we are actively providing additional security assistance to the Israeli Defence Forces.

Last week, the Knesset National Security Committee approved National Security Minister Ben-Gvir’s proposed amendments to gun license regulations so that the conditions for obtaining a license are more lenient, amid the ongoing combat in the south.

Actually the number one reason the Second Amendment exists is to make it possible for us to replace a corrupt and abusive government. Self defense against criminals is a secondary reason. And while many leftists don’t think self defense should be legal virtually ALL politicians don’t want anyone to have the means of removing them from power when they decide to act out criminally. That’s why the “you don’t need 30 rounds to hunt deer” bullshit is exactly that , because you DO need 30 round magazines to do battle with government hired thugs.

The government loves to point out that you can’t resist the government. They don’t like to be reminded that you are just one of nearly 10 million loosely collaborating armed citizens (assuming the “3% rule” is valid), and an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.

J.Kb I can’t help but think that the Ron Desantis story by the AP stating that Desantis-Florida was sending weapons to Israel, also was a factor in the 90-day ban of weapon and ammo exports. Perhaps to send a national message that all weapons and ammo shipments are at the president’s discretion. The original message was from Desantis War Room on X, claiming weapons ammo and body armor were sent to Israel. AECA and ITAR agreements do not allow for any state or entity to ship arms and ammo anywhere without presidential approval. So it would seem that Desantis erred in making this statement. His opposition are now using this to prove he’s incompetent.

While I believe Desantis is the best candidate for the US Presidency, I don’t want him to succeed because I don’t want to lose him at the helm here in my state. I’ve said it before and will again state, there is no republican able to withstand the leftist machine which has already successfully seized control of this nation. Now, the only thing left is each state’s will to defend itself.

Agreed on multiple points, including that DeSantis is currently the best candidate for the Presidency, and that he shouldn’t be running yet. It’s not his time. In 2028, maybe, but right now Florida needs him more.

Among other reasons, from a strategic point of view the 2024 election season is still “The Donald J. Trump Show”, and DJT has his daggers out and primed against ALL challengers. Instead of butting heads with The Donald, DeSantis would do much better to keep Florida sane and wait until the 2028 election, when Trump has either lost twice (and lost credibility) or won twice and is Constitutionally ineligible to run again.

With Trump out of the way, DeSantis is practically a shoo-in — heck, Trump might even endorse him instead of back-stabbing him! — but right now he’s far more likely to fail and in the process wind up with some egg on his face.
