On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month…

And an old newspaper art I found not too long ago.

I am going to quote myself from the original post.

I think of Memorial Day as WWII/Vietnam/Desert Storm and the Wars of Post 9/11.  I never thought that Veterans from the Civil War and WWI would be sharing memories of those who fell, but they surely did.

  1. I never thought that Veterans from the Civil War and WWI would be sharing memories of those who fell

Memorial Hall, in Hahvahd yahd, was contructed as a memorial to members of the Hahvahd community who fell in our Civil War. It has since added lists of names from subsequent conflicts: the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, etc.

    YMMV

    we are forever in debt.
    One hundred years hence,
    lest we forget.”

  3. In my world, the idea of “never forget” has a somewhat different meaning. In that regard, it appears that three quarters of a century is sufficient. I get raised eyebrows and hairy eyeballs in our synagogue, every time I mention that “never forget” is an empty phrase without personal ownership if firearms….

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
