And we cannot expect the Feds to help secure Catholic Churches, but just the opposite.

The Baptist church we occasionally attend usually has at least one plain clothes off duty officer there, and the pastor occasionally teases me about having a ‘lump’ under my jacket. (No, it really doesn’t show..)
Plus I know of at least two other people that also pack.
It seems to me as an outsider (Protestant, we’re used to ignoring what the Pope says), that American Roman Catholics are pretty selective about how they heed the pronouncements of their hierarchy.
Unless there’s a metal detector at the door, I would (and have) carry anyway. Done right, a snub in the front pocket with the right pocket holster is close to invisible.

I agree, certainly if you live in a state where such signs have no force of law. As I understand, NH is one such state — while the property owner can tell you to leave if you’re seen carrying, that in itself is not a legal issue. It would become one only if you refuse to leave, in which case it’s simply trespass. It’s more problematic in benighted states where the law can go after you for ignoring such a sign. I think I was told Texas is one such state.
