Concealed Carry Killed Martin Luther King jr.

That is according to Mayor Richard Daley:

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is criticizing state legislation that would allow gun owners to conceal and carry their weapons. Lawmakers in Springfield are considering a bill that would permit gun owners over the age of 21 to apply for a concealed carry permit.

Speaking out against the legislation, Daley invoked the assassination of Martin Luther King, Junior.

“We have learned nothing from that assassination. We have learned nothing that guns are killing another generation of young people

And all these years we were led to believe that James Earl Ray murdered Rev. King with a Remington Gamemaster Model 760 rifle from a motel across the street.

Live and Learn!

OK seriously, is Daley just delusional? Or since he is on his way out, he really does not care about what he says, specially since Gun Control Laws in Illinois, something he fought hard for, are going down the drain?

Truth be told, I love when anti-gunners get this stupid. We are living in an era where fact-checking is a search engine away from the comfort of your smart-phone and the debunked lie gets published to millions of people in a matter of seconds.  The more they screw up and lie, the more we win.

UPDATE: Perhaps Daley’s outburst was because the City of Chicago was taken behind the woodshed during oral arguments on Ezell v. Chicago.

Freddy Kruger: Armed Robber.

I guess the movie/nightmare business is in bad shape when Freddy drops the claws and totes a gun.

The man, wearing a rubber mask that looked like the dream-haunting villain from the “Nightmare On Elm Street” movies and carrying a gun, forced an employee to open the cash register, according to investigators.

Police said the masked gunman stole some cash and escaped, possibly in a burgundy Ford Explorer.

At least he is not using a Government Motors vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersmiami.com.

-“Good Morning. CrimeStoppers Miami. How Can I help you?”
-“Yes, about the Freddy Kruger robbery at North Bay Village?”
-“Yes! You have any information please?”
-“Well, last nite I had a dream and I saw Freddy..”

Making the case to carry Non-Lethal Devices. (NSFW-Language)

The following video shows a pretty stupid and intoxicated young lady basically engaging everyone she dislikes on the street with a low level of violence. You can go ahead and fast forward to 02:20 for the “good part.”

I do not have the story other that it happened in Miami Beach (and that exemplifies why I haven’t been in MB in over a decade) and some young dumb girl ended up kissing South Florida pavement.

There is no doubt that she got way more than she bargained for. Most people attacked adopted a defensive/retreating attitude which was the right thing to do. Unfortunately the last guy had an Ego Override and stopped her antics rather swiftly but I would chance to say , illegally due to disparity of force. The gentleman probably got away with it since the crowd was more interested in the now prone young stupid girl, but such application of was unjustified in my opinion.

The video makes a good case for carrying a Non-Lethal device such as pepper spray. We know it is not 100% effective but it may give you enough time and space to disengage safely without leaving permanent damage. I have come to rethink my favor for electrical devices since they have developed a negative reputation in some public groups and most hand-held devices require for you to get in contact with the attacker which is not tactically sound strategy.

All in all having an alternative to deadly force is a good thing to consider. We are so studious of firearms and deadly force that we commit the sin of omission by not thinking about other ways to de-escalate situations. Time for me to add more crap to my already heavy load.
