Month: January 2012

On January 8th, Light a Candle and take a picture.

Weer beat me to the punch so to him goes the laurels. Now, on January 8th, light a candle next to your favorite gun and post it in your blog, Facebook page or Twitter account to stick it in the eye of the Dancing-On-Blood Vultures of the Brady Campaign. If you want to share it in this blog, leave the link of the picture in the comments section of that day’s post.

Let’s set Brady hypocrisy on fire.

CSGV: making it up as they go.

The cartoon appears attached to an article by Dave Zweifel in Capital Times from Wisconsin which touts itself to be “Your Progressive Voice” (’nuff said right there.) Mr. Zweifel’s article bemoans the fact that the names of people with concealed carry permits are not available to them:

Ironically, the shielding of concealed carry permits from public inspection has been a major reason why the gun lobby has been able to claim that concealed carry laws have not caused any problems.

Ironically that is not the case. Many states do make available statistics of not only how many have been issued, age and sex of the CCWers but also how many have been suspended and for what reason. Across the board the result is always pretty much the same: People with Concealed Carry Permits are much more Law Abiding than the general population and leagues ahead than many governmental entities.

Now on to Ladd. The Former ACORN intern in charge of the Facebook page claims that the NRA is against the rest of the Bill of Rights. Now that is downright pitifully funny considering that CSGV and most of the Gun Control groups constantly erases any comments that go contrary to their position or reveal their lies and bans whomever posts those “awful” posts; no Freedom of Speech for You!. CSGV et all are also against Gun Shows so there goes the Freedom of Assembly! For the love of me, I cannot remember when the NRA interfered with a news organization or passed a law against the press.. unless you count when they have confronted and taken to task irresponsible news organizations for fabricating stories in order to shed a negative lies on gun ownership.

The same goes for the rest of the list. But Wisconsonites should not worry; even CSGV knows that this time next year or a bit longer there will be a news item buried in the same Capital Times “Your Progressive Voice” saying that “contrary to expectations, there has not been an increase in shootings, no blood running down the streets and no gangs acquiring gun permits to further their crimes and that they cannot explain why.” They will not tell you that the only ones expecting mayhem were them because we already knew it was not gonna happen.

Why we Keep and Bear Arms.

“There is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen. It is monstrous if the state fails to protect its residents against such predators but it does not violate the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, or, we suppose, any other provision of the Constitution. The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties; it tells the state to let the people alone; it does not require the federal government or the state to provide services, even so elementary a service as maintaining law and order.” – Bowers v. DeVito, 686 F.2d 616 (7th Cir. 1982)

At random

– I really really really hate jackasses that celebrate the New Year/ 4th of July with gunfire that is not in a range. Even though apparently nobody got hit this year in Miami, there were still plenty of idiots shooting guns. Funny thing: by the count of strings of shots fired, there were lots of revolver and reduced capacity mags. Six and ten shots was what I heard the most. And yes an idiot with a double barrel shotgun too. Price of ammo had to be a factor this year because everybody packed it in around one am at the latest.

– I am gonna give it a shot and write a book this year. Mindset is greatly mentioned but seldom explained and with reason: The damn thing is vast and subjective. I agree with Michael Bane and his Gun Culture 2.0 (Civilians and Self Defense Culture) and the old hunting/military/police culture did not and does not apply to the regular Joes & Janes. I’ll head down that path.

– This will be the year we bury the Old Media. Not because paper and Talking Heads have become obsolete, but because they have become willing participants in covering up the myriad of scandal coming out of the current Administration. Fast & Furious will not go away and we will end up paying heavy reparations to Mexico for the 300+ people killed by ATF-provided firearms to the Drug Cartels and nobody from the Old Media with the balls to actually do an in depth investigation on the subject (exception to CBS and Ms. Atkins). Expect to see a huge amount of Presidential pardons issued to DOJ, FBI and ATF officials before Obama leaves office.

– Traditional Anti Gun groups will become more strident in their advertising on their way to their much deserved grave. Slowly but surely they are realizing irrelevancy is swallowing them. They cannot claim they are mainstream and they look really silly saying gun ownership is down when we had the two biggest sale days in history within the last 2 months (Black Friday & December 23) plus more and more news outlets are reporting defensive uses of firearms without the demeaning cliches of old. It was bound to happen, specially when women are finding out that guns are more relaxing and less taxing than Yoga plus the added benefit of defending themselves. No means No is properly reinforced with the visual of the muzzle of a gun aimed at the face of the rapist/killer.

– I think the Economy is gonna tank even worse this year. I don’t see any investors taking chances until the election is done and the new Administration starts undoing the tons of anti-business crap done under Obama. That means we won’t see light till sometime the end of 2013. Patience will be needed.

– And I plan on getting grouchier. Be ready 😉
