Going Title II ? May God Have Mercy on D.C.

Second Amendment activist John Snyder writes on his blog today that confidential sources have told him that the Obama administration may attempt to skirt Congress and outlaw semiautomatic firearms and multiple capacity ammunition feeding devices under Title 2 National Firearms Act items under the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Going Title II would mean that basically all semi automatic weapons and feeding devices over 10 rounds would be reclassified as machine guns, subject to immediate registration, taxed $200 per unit (Yes, a $200 tax stamp on a $30 magazine above 10 rounds), the owner had to go through a background check, submit fingerprints, photos and wait till all the paperwork is processed by the amazingly inefficient NFA branch of the ATF. Waiting times for actual NFA items such as silencers is running 6 months or more according to what I was able to see in NFATracker.com. If past behavior is any indicator, the Government would set the impossible deadline of 30 days to comply with the registration. Failure to comply would result in 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000 per non registered item.

If in fact there are those in the administration and congress that are examining this route as a possible way to bypass the legislative process and impose a more efficient Gun Control regulation, I can guarantee that the opposition will be literally scary enough to move to Canada.

The problem is that they are stupid enough to try it without thinking about the Unintended Consequences.

Second Circuit Upholds Sullivan Law | Shall Not Be Questioned

Via Jacob, the decision can be found here. The decision will be appealed. In the decision they kind of dabble in the history and tradition argument

And a bit of history in this link from the NY Post and also the pic below is quite illustrative:

Rhinelander Waldo was the NYPD Commissioner from 1911 (when the Sullivan law was introduced) till 1914 when he was fired by the incoming Mayor.

Black Friday Gun Sales Hit New Record High

the FBI reported 154,873 background check requests on Friday – a 20 per cent increase on last year’s record total of 129,166 checks.

If we assume a 9 am EST to 9 pm PST workday (15 hours), it comes to 172 guns sold every minute that day. Almost 3 guns every second.

And I cannot begin to imagine how much ammo went home with the guns..

I bet he got shot with one of them .45 caliber bullets that stop trains. (Updated)

The boyfriend opened fire, and the ex-husband was airlifted to Broward Health North.

I have seen in movies and TV people getting shot and flying backwards through the air, but this has to be a new frigging record. According to Google Maps and what the reporter wrote, the Ex vaulted 34 12 miles after wounded by the tactical nuke in a pistol. If anything, it saved the county from having to bring paramedics and the rescue helicopter.

UPDATE: Somebody at NBC 6 must have caught the mistake as it was corrected while finishing this post.

UPDATE 2: NBC 6 is back to the original writing and this time I got a screencap.
I also corrected the distance between the location of the event and the hospital.

If we delve into the news story itself, we find out that two people were arrested for the incident: Earl White III and Tiffany Leanne Yancey. Mr. White is a felon on parole according to the Georgia Department of Corrections and Ms. Yancey who shows an arrest for firearm possession by convicted felon. Basically both are legally prohibited from even touching a gun yet that did not deter them. But for the Cult to Stop Gun Rights Violence, the solution to this problem is make sure I am unarmed at my local Big Box Store.

And to DJean Polster: Concealed Carry is working pretty good in Florida, we should be damn close to the one million active licenses any time now. And before you start shooting your mouth (see what I did there?) you may want to do a little Google Search and figure out the legal status of your examples.
