Broken Record

Everytown reported on the tragic death of Jajuan Hubert Latham, a 12 year old boy, killed in a gang shooting following a memorial for Jujuan’s cousin Zaevion Dobson who was also killed in a gang shooting.  Zaevion Dobson was a 15 year old boy who died protecting three girls from crossfire in gang shooting late last year.

This story is heartbreaking and I feel nothing but empathy for this family that lost two innocent children in gang shootings.

Enter the antis over at Everytown who know EXACTLY who to blame for this tragedy, and why.

Of course it is the NRA’s fault.  If the NRA didn’t donate to politicians these boys would still be alive.

Except, not. Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch chimed in on this shootings with an amazing level of wisdom and insight:

The violence has got to stop, this can’t go on. We do not need to bury anymore children.  It’s my gang is better than your gang. That makes no sense to me.  They’re cowards.  A coward shoots blindly at a crowd.

Chief Rausch laid the blame for this not at the feet of the NRA or politicians or law abiding gun owners but on gang culture that perpetuates violence.  Be it Knoxville, New York, or Chicago, it is this gang honor culture that results in bloodshed.

But that fact doesn’t fit the anti’s narrative, so rather than going after gang culture, they go after gun culture – which are not synonymous.

I am reminded of the quote by former Israeli Prime Minister, Golda Meir, explaining the moment that Israel will find lasting peace:  “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

I believe that this applies to gang culture as well.  Gang violence will end when the predominate culture values life more than it values territorialism, reputation, vengeance, or the other cultural attributes that make it acceptable for gang members to shoot each other on sight.

Law abiding gun enthusiasts (or dyed-in-the-wool guns nuts such as myself) are not a contributing factor in gang violence.  If I had a nickel for every shooting I’ve ever read about, caused by some member of Ducks Unlimited wandering into Safari Club International territory… I’d be broke.  Because it doesn’t happen.

BTW, you can spot those Duckers by the Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo they wear.  Realtree AP for life, bitchez!!!

Also, I love how Ms. Maxie seems to have no problem with gang violence as long as it is conducted without guns.  If fist fights are OK by her, does she have an issue with knife fighting?  Sure some people got killed in in West Side Story, but since there were no guns in it, it was just a cute little rom-com musical.

There is an old expression: when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.  Well, for the antis at Everytown, when all you have is an anti-gun dogma, every problem looks like the NRA’s fault.  Of course it isn’t, which is why these true-believers will never solve anything.

It is official: You can get away with SWATting in Ohio.

Special (as in short bus?) Prosecutor Mark Piepmeier.

A special prosecutor is refusing to charge Ronald Ritchie for the deceptive 911 call that he made that left two people dead in Beavercreek, Ohio in 2014. Put bluntly, Ritchie’s false claims SWATted John Crawford to death, and he’s going to get away with it.

If you live in Ohio, you are now at the mercy of rabid gun control activists who have promised to call 911 if they see anybody with a gun. And now they know they can even lie about what you are doing and get away with it.

Gun Control summarized in one short headline.

CSGV Guns and Learning

The article is just another one in the long line of “ZOMG! Guns in Campus will Curtail (fill the blank)!” I did find out this particular part funny:

In my case, the issue is moot: If this bill is signed into law, I will no longer conduct office hours without a campus police officer present, even at the cost of compromising the student-professor relationship. I do not flatter myself that I am an extraordinarily empathetic person, but in some cases I am the only adult in whom a student can or will confide. I keep my students’ secrets under lock and key, which would no longer be possible under this law.

Remember, these are the people who keep telling us we don’t need guns because we can solve any problem by talking and assorted exercises in conflict-resolution. But suddenly and the imaginary threat of somebody legally carrying a concealed weapon, they have the urgent need to have somebody with a gun backing them up.

But back to the point I wanted to make: Guns and Learning Don’t Mix.

Damn it! It is such a beautiful and minimalist explanation to Gun Control movements: Ignorance is the best weapon. Don’t tell the truth. Don’t allow people to learn about guns. Don’t allow anybody (specially kids) to be safe around guns. Shut Gun Rights activists down. Ban the NRA. Prosecute Gun Owners because they are Gun Owners and not because real crimes have been committed, don’t learn about Due Process.

“Listen to me. I hold all the ‘truth.’ Accept no other views.”

I am going to abuse the hell out of this headline and mix it with my traditional tag..

If your cause is righteous, why lie?
Because Guns and Learning Don’t Mix.

Dear Gun Control Advocates: Why lie when you don’t need to?

Here is what I don’t get: I did a quick check on several of the cases with the links that Parents Against Gun Violence provided and the real reason are silly enough or lamentable accidents. Why go the extra yard and screw up what would have been a perfect pitch by getting “creative”? The father did not shoot the son just because he was wearing his pants low and talked back, they were both stupidly under the influence of alcohol. The one guy did not shoot the family because they played music loud a couple of times, they had an ongoing feud of several months. Boyfriend did not just in the spur of the moment ran over and shot the girlfriend, there was a history of domestic abuse. And the other noise complain shooting, it was not just that somebody complained but a fought had already broken out and somebody used a gun.

They are cases that are stupid on their own merits, but the need to paint all gun owners with the coating of mindless robots ready to shoot for no apparent reason (stupid or otherwise) was too tempting to pass up. By dehumanizing your target, you make it easy to hate… and dispose.

And we all know what the Laddites at CSGV want for gun owners. They have not been shy about it. And that is why we fight for our Gun Rights.

Spinning fool hurts young teen because stupid is plentiful.

A 42-year-old man is accused of accidentally shooting a teenager in the shoulder during a water gun fight at a barbecue in a Houston suburb Sunday, news reports say. The 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital, and Jason Speights was arrested on a charge of deadly conduct, KPRC-TV in Houston reported.
One witness told ABC 13 that Speights had gone inside the house to get a dry set of clothes, and that it appears the gun was mixed in with the clothes.“And when he went to holster it he was spinning it on his finger, he pulled the trigger and accidentally shot her near the collarbone,” Lawrence Martinez said. The girl was in stable condition later Sunday.

I am going to take a very wild guess, but the gun will turn out to be a modern semi auto instead of the more traditional single action revolver.  Spinning a modern pistol is up there in the Pantheon Of Dumb Crap to Do With a Gun right next to playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded 1911.

On Sunday night, an emotional gathering to honor the life of 12 year old Jajuan Latham. The community came together at Danny Mayfield park, where police say Latham was shot and killed Saturday night in a gang-related shooting.

During a press conference Sunday, Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch condemned the recent gang-related violence.

In the defunct TV show House, they would have patients coming in every week with different and weird symptoms of unknown maladies. Whether the person could only turn left and speak in Sanskrit or have violent diarrhea while sporting  checkered splotches and growing hair out of the elbows, Dr. Gregory House would utter the same initial command : “Check for lupus.” And I would yell at the screen “It is never effing lupus, you moron!” much to my wife’s irritation while making sure nothing too hard was at my reach. (She liked the show, I had to watch it.)

Gun Control groups like Everytown/Moms Demand seem to have copied the same script with the exception that once the initial diagnosis was found wrong, they stick with it instead of abusing the underlings and finding what was really is needed to cure the patient. In the article, gangs are mentioned several times, but it will be a cold day in this alleged globally warmed sphere of planet before Gun Control drops their script and help address the issue of gangs or mental health.

In the meantime, the bodies keep piling up and they get to fund-raise from the top of the cadaverous monument.

Blood washes off, I guess.
