The Bloomberg anti-gun hydra has sprouted another head, with the intention of affecting another state election.  This time it is up in the Great Northeast as Mainers for Responsible Gun Ownership.  If their founding by Bloomberg were not confirmed by the Washington Times, it would be self evident by their Facebook title picture in which they are all wearing orange for gun violence.  

They are trying to raise funds using Grandpa and Grandson Fudd, pulling the “I’m not a racist, I have a black friend” argument for gun control.

What they are asking for is universal background checks.  Why?  Because loophole, that’s why.  The “40% of guns criminals use they get through sales with no background checks” claim has been stated and debunked so many times it holds no meaning any more.  Either you believe it because politics is your religion and you take crap this this as an article of faith, or you don’t.

What I know is that universal background checks, the way the anti-gunners and Left want them, won’t reduce crime and will be a massive inconvenience to gun owners.

I have a buddy who is the 1911 whisperer.  He has tuned and dressed 1911’s for world champion shooters, Hollywood movies, and celebrities alike.  For him, there is no such thing as 1911 vs Glock.  For him, the debate begins and ends with Series 70 vs Seires 80.  Come to think of it, I don’t think he can say “Glock.”  This is a man that leaves no sear un-stoned.  His “beater” 1911 would make Bill Wilson green with envy.  I’m pretty sure his prophylactics have a Novak cut.  He bleeds cold blue and if he cried, it would be 230 grain hard ball.

This man will tune 1911’s for me for a handshake and a six-pack.  Who needs Cylinder and Slide when you have friends like this?  The think is, he’s not a gunsmith.  He’s just a gun nut and has been around them forever.  So ever time I need a tweeking for a carry gun or something, I’d have to 4473 this man, who goes to work and plays with guns every day for a living.  Because… loophole.

How about not.

This is not about public safety.  Remember, Adam Lanza – which is where this whole 91% support universal background checks bullshit started – stole his gun from his mother after he killed her.  This is just another level of control.  Another way for anti-gunners to criminalize normal gun culture behavior and punish us.  Illinois’ universal background checks don’t stop the killings in Chicago.  What makes any reasonable person think that it will make a difference in any of the other 49 states?

Mainers, vote no.  And if this Fudd is really a Maine hunter.  If you see him at the hunting lodge, give him a one-finger salute for me.

If you are so kind, take a moment to check and possibly donate to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Very few of the organized charities put there are as helpful as St Jude nor are they as strict with the way they use the money they get from donations. One of my “Good Guy/Girl Celebrity meter” is who appears on a TV ad for St. Jude as they do not spend money for celebrities to call attention to the hospital, the celebrities donate their time and expenses for them.

So, who are Charlotte and Lysander ? They are to adorable toddlers that belong to a dear friend of mine, Christine. They are about to embark on the perils of trike driving and they will do so for a great cause. Mommy does not need any more gray hairs (this 2 are hell on foot, imagine on wheels), so a trike-safety course will be done in the name of St. Jude.

My very legally uneducated opinion: First shot could be ruled justified. The second shot would be iffy, it could go either way. The third shot? Pure revenge, it was bruised Ego issuing payback. This guy will end up enjoying an extended stay at the State’s Resort for Felons.

One more lesson: There is no such thing as a referee in a gun fight. The old man is damned lucky.

J. Kb. wrote about four being shot in NY during a rally against gun violence.  And it is being repeated in other places like Baltimore and I recall at least one case somewhere in Florida.

Protesting against Gun Violence is a hazardous thing to do. So, where can Gun Control Activists can go protest against “gun violence and be safe?

Ah! Nothing like stirring racial disharmony and a “Fuck Da Police” attitude to get more people dead and being able to claim the urgent need for gun control. I figure at this rate, Bloomberg will end up giving away cash so minorities can buy a gun illegally even though he is on the record saying that minorities should not own guns.

By the way, I found this great site with the murder stats of Chicago detailed in a great way. Did you know that Chicago PD’s homicide clearance is just 19.3%? That is 8 homicides in ten go unresolved or that you have an 80% chance of getting away with murder in the Windy City.

When students at Brown University head to their first class or hit the gym for their first workout this week, they’ll find something new in many campus bathrooms: free tampons and pads. Brown’s student body president, Viet Nguyen, who’s pushed the student-led initiative, will be hand-delivering menstrual products into all nonresidential bathrooms with the help of 20 other students…

….By putting menstrual products in women’s, men’s and gender-inclusive bathrooms, Nguyen’s campaign highlights an often-ignored fact: Not all people who menstruate are women. “We wanted to set a tone of trans-inclusivity, and not forget that they’re an important part of the population,” he says. “I’d be naïve to say there won’t be push back. I’ve had questions about why we’re implementing this in male bathrooms as well. It’s an initial confusion, but people generally understand when we explain it.”

Since we know males are physiologically impossible to menstruate, the only other thing I can come up where the term menstruation is applied to males is the aftermath of anal rape in prison where the convicts jokingly refer to the bleeding that occurs as menstruation. Is Mr. Nguyen insinuating that anal rape occurs frequently at Brown’s and goes unreported?

About the only advantage I see is that “menstrual products” like tampons and pads make for field expedient dressings in case of a mass casualty situation.
