Truth in fiction

Some clearly insane individual has created a fake media website to report the news from the world inside their own head, where Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election and is now President.

At first glance, this could be mistaken as a fan fiction website about Clinton, or maybe writing therapy for a progressive that was pushed over the edge by Trump’s win.

It contains oleaginous tidbits from this Bizzaro World like:

NEW YORK — President Hillary Clinton is getting a battering from the media following a Thursday press conference that journalists are criticizing for being “well-informed and sane.”

The New York Times editorial board issued a blistering review of the President’s performance on Friday morning, saying Clinton’s “dazzling intelligence, profound understanding of the Constitution and masterful command of policy is, frankly, annoying.”

And

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Just one month into the new administration, a new Gallup poll reveals that President Clinton’s approval ratings have skyrocketed to 89 percent.

This delusional hagiography is one thing, but where the horror lies is in the fake news that reveal the true depth of hate that Progressives have for the other side.  There can be no peace, even in fantasy land, the Right must pay with blood.

How about a fantasy in which the Koch brothers are exiled and their business destroyed.  When you are a liberal, there is no concern for the 100,000 Koch employees, and their paychecks, retirement, or health insurance that will be lost, they are casualties of political war.

How about a fantasy where Kellyanne Conway is attached to a rapist.  There is nothing sexist about destroying a Conservative woman.

How about a fantasy in which Senator Ted Cruz is found guilty of the death of Heath Ledger, so he can be  presumably executed?

Because any leftist that steps slightly out of line needs to be taken down too, a hit piece on Susan Sarandon.

Lastly, a fantasy in which Law Enforcement is subject to “Racial Introspection Month” where they can learn from Hillary just how awful they are:

During the first presidential debate, while President Clinton argued that “implicit bias is a problem for everyone, not just police,” she promised to overhaul the justice system, saying it was partially responsible for the “systemic racism” that blacks experience in America.

On Monday, Clinton said that as a white person, she hopes “that white people finally check their privilege and stop senselessly killing young black men.”

When you step into the head of a Liberal, what you find is a seething abscess of hate, just searching for a way to destroy all those who don’t agree 100%.  It is terrifying.

I just want to be left alone.  This person wants to destroy our lives.

Mother of invention

The Bloomberg backed The Trace published an article with the most tin pot dictatorial headline I have ever read.

California Gun Owners Are Already Subverting the State’s Expanded Assault Weapons Ban

The subtitle is even better.

Devices designed as workarounds have been on sale since the new restrictions were signed. Now it’s up to Attorney General Xavier Bacerra to decide whether they’re legal.

Law abiding gun owners are working to be able to keep their guns under California’s new Assault Weapons Ban, and that is subversion.

Necessity, they say, is the mother of invention.  The government of the State of California has decides that some arbitrary cosmetic features on a gun legal according to Federal law should make the entire gun illegal.  This will, of course, do nothing to reduce gun crime in the state, just as the federal AWB did nothing to reduce national crime.  But that isn’t the point.  The point is to inconvenience gun owners to the point where they stop being gun owners.

Making the ability to exercise a Constitutional right so onerous through regulation that it becomes prohibitive is an age old tactic used by Democrats, going back to the Poll Tax and literacy tests for voting.

So rather than be forced to relinquish their once legal and now illegal guns to the police, gun owners and the gun industry in California has become quite innovative in modifying once legal guns to stay legal.  Miguel touched on this before.

Well The Trace is having none of this.

Just as they did the last time California updated its longstanding assault weapons law, enterprising gunsmiths are ready with new products that could render the tighter restrictions largely moot.

See, we should be good peasants and abide by the capricious whims of our betters.  We shouldn’t try to comply with the law while keeping our lawfully purchased private property.  We should just allow ourselves to be subjugated like proper slaves and stop tinkering with our guns.

Even The Trace admits that the CA AWB is pointless in actually reducing crime.

California’s assault weapons laws are controversial with gun owners because they heavily restrict firearms that are wildly popular, readily available in most other states, and rarely used in crimes, compared to handguns. Many gun-rights advocates say the features that qualify a rifle as an assault weapon are arbitrary and do not meaningfully affect its lethality. They chafe at the rules against reselling or giving away the guns, noting that if an assault weapons owner wants to get rid of his or her guns, or dies, the rifle must be surrendered to police, transferred out of state, or sold only to select dealers.

That won’t stop CA legislators from trying though.  If there is one thing the Left knows how to, it is apply the boot of government to the neck of the people.

In the wake of the San Bernardino attack, Marc Levine, the Democratic state assemblyman who sponsored the law revising California’s assault weapon statute, got firsthand experience with rifles altered to skirt California’s rules.

“I could empty ten rounds into a target and reload a magazine in a couple seconds,” he said. “And I have almost no training.”

Levine was not surprised to see products like the Patriot Mag Release appear after his bill passed.

“There’s always a hardware race,” he said. “We will continue to struggle with this.” In the meantime, he said he hopes that the new rules will yield at least incremental progress towards reducing the death toll of mass shootings in the state. “My goal is to at least slow down the carnage.”

It will never occur to him that his efforts are fruitless.  When Progressives enacted prohibition, American’s ran rum from Cuba and made moonshine in the hills.  It is an American tradition to try and wiggle out from under the boot of government and enjoy freedom.   American innovators will always be one step ahead of the legislators.

Prince, the designer of the Patriot Mag Release, declined to comment for this article, citing the pending DOJ decision.  In a statement he issued while revealing his latest invention, he signaled a willingness to wait out new business opportunities.

“We have had the Patriot Mag Release in the wings for many years,” he wrote. “Together, we will weather this storm and come out shining.”

Americans will not rollover and play dead under any oppressive law.  Ban booze and we’ll brew it ourselves.  Ban the ice cream soda and we’ll make the ice cream sundae (fucking progressives have been going after soda for a century).  Ban switchblades and we make assisted openers.  Draft up an AWB and we’ll make bullet buttons.  Ban them and we’ll make something else new.

I know this will fall on deaf progressive ears but, perhaps the lesson to be learned is: stop banning things that Americans want according to the fickle desires of meddling nannies.

Suffering fools

I do not suffer fools well.

I was at the local grocery store trying to do my shopping with a cranky three year old in the cart.

The kid behind the deli counter was having a conversation with his buddy who came to visit him.  They were wasting my time.

The buddy was complaining that some mutual friend borrowed his phone charger and now his phone is dying and blah blah blah…

This went on for almost ten minutes.  I know because I walked away, got my veggies and milk and went back to the deli counter and they were still at it.

I wanted cold cuts and to be on my way.

So I inturrepted their conversation in my most helpful tone of voice and said:

“There is a life hack for that.  Take a plate or pan or something large enough to put your phone in, with about an inch of space around the sided.  Then put about half to one inch of water in the pan.  Then put your phone in the pan with four nine volt batteries.  The water will act like a universal charger and power your phone.”

“Thanks” the kid said.

I got my turkey breast and cheese and went on merry way.

Passive Aggressive Tactics only works if the target gives a damn about you.

This is what bitchslapping a BBC Journo looks like.

This is something the MSM has not figured out yet.  They can’t claim victim status when they have been the biggest collection of liars and bullies around.

What I love the most is the conceited statement that the are Freedom of Speech. Nope, you were never Freedom of Speech, you were supposed to be a vessel for it was your responsibility and you took a dump on it by abusing it.

But what it is pissing you off the most is that you really wish Trump would behave like those Left Wing Tin Pot dictators you admire so much (most of the time) and do something that can be construed as infringing on the freedom of the press. Instead he just bypassed you and is taking his message by other ways and to other providers while letting you self-destruct with your own antics. And worse, he does not show you any respect because you long-lost any right to it and almost 70% of Americans see it the same way.

The only thing you can bitch about is that once again Trump figured out the people in this country and acted according. You guys continue to fail to read the tea leaves even when the damn bale has fallen a top of your heads.

Missed the point (on purpose)

Moms Demand Action is celebrating the overturning of the Firearm Owners’ Privacy Act, also known as “Docs vs. Glocks.”

The New York Times calls the decision “A Win for Free Speech and Gun Safety.”  I’ll be honest, I didn’t think the law, as written, was going to survive a court challenge.  That said, I still believe there needs to be some protection for gun owners from doctors.

The media that has covered this has failed to address the real fear of gun owners.

According to Slate, the issue is gun owners feeling bad:

Stop for a moment and consider that the Second Amendment injury here lies not in the possibility that a physician can do anything to take away anyone’s gun, but in the outside chance that she will use her knowledge of actual medical evidence to suggest that guns can kill people and her patient might listen to her. This is literally an argument for a constitutional right not to learn stuff from people who know stuff because you might then feel bad about the stuff you own.

First of all, with all do respect to the MD’s out there.  Is there anything a doctor who might now own a gun (considering that pediatricians are overwhelmingly liberal) can teach a law abiding gun owner about guns?  This is nothing more than the logical fallacy of appeal to authority.

However, if you read the articles in The Atlantic and The Trace, you get a better idea of why gun owners might actually fear being talked to about gun by their doctors.

From the Atlantic:

“Conversations about gun safety between providers and patients should be nonjudgmental, educational, and focused on improving the health and safety of the patient and those around him or her,” the lead study author, Marian Betz of the University of Colorado in Aurora, told Reuters. “Unfortunately, the larger political debate over gun control laws can spill over into health-care settings.”

Great idea!  Lets take today’s hyper polarized political climate, and encourage doctors to discuss an issue that is every bit a political as a matter of safety, and tempt fate that the doctor’s politics “spill over” into providing medical advice.

“At times, clinicians may feel uncomfortable or uninformed when discussing certain subjects, and may disagree with a patient’s choices or beliefs,” they write. “However, this discomfort or disagreement cannot justify either offensive condescension or silent inaction.”

Even better, let’s acknowledge that doctors might not be informed on the subject of guns, but lecture their patients anyway because they disagree with their patients political choices.  That haughty air of smug condescension really worked in Progressive’s favor in 2016 didn’t it.

From the The Trace (in a blinding act of unbiased truth telling):

Until recently, the research on doctors’ gun counseling had long shown that gun-owning parents were OK with this approach: A 1999 survey of physicians and parents found that “All parents who owned guns indicated they would acknowledge owning a gun if asked by their pediatricians,” and 98 percent of pediatricians “believed that [they] should discuss gun safety with all gun-owning families” — a discussion that did not simply label guns in the home as an inherent danger, but offered that unloaded or locked guns are safer. (It should be noted that pro-gun parents aren’t the only group whose feelings have hardened during the gun-rights renaissance of the past decade; the American Academy of Pediatrics has since called for parents to remove guns from their homes altogether.)

That part in bold (emphasis added) is the key.

This is straight from the Healthy Kids website of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Big bold letters advocating not to own a gun.

But these points alone are not really the deep seeded fear of gun owners.  So what that your pediatrician decides to lecture you on how you are a bad person because you own guns?

It made national news when a couple in Las Vegas couple was denied the right to become foster parents because they had concealed carry permits.

There is a terrible shortage of foster homes, but the State of Nevada decided that the risk to a foster child being placed in a home where there might be a loaded gun was too high and the application was denied.  Too bad they weren’t gun free child molesters, Nevada would have given them all the foster kids they want.

But this is foster care, you have to jump through a lot of hoops to become a foster or adoptive parent.

In the State of Florida (as well as everywhere else) doctors are mandatory reporters.  There are guidelines to reporting, but if the reporter feels that the child is in an unsafe circumstance, they are to report it to the state.

Florida’s Department of Child and Family services is terrible.  A grand jury said so.  It is so bad there is a Facebook page chronicling their failures.

The horror that concerns gun owning parents is when some hyper political, anti gun, nanny of a doctor decides that when mom or dad says “yes” to the question “do you own any guns,” mom and dad are getting a visit from DCF.  If the American Academy of Pediatrics says owning a gun is bad and dangerous, than a home with a gun in it is worthy of government intervention.

In 2017 America where wearing a MAGA hat means that you are a neo-Nazi deserving of being punched or bashed, do we trust progressive doctors not to torment gun owners with unnecessary investigations from state agencies over the political disagreements of gun ownership?

Maybe a few years ago this was paranoid fantasy.  Today I’m not so sure.

The First Amendment should be respected.  Let the doctors talk to patients about guns.  Let the doctor talk to me about how often I change my break pads too, I’ll add it to the list of things I know more about than my pediatrician.

What gun owners need is protection for doctors that think their politics mean that they can do more than talk.
