Mass shootings, good guys with guns, and the tactics of war
This is something that nobody in the media has covered, even on the pro-gun side, and it’s starting to piss me off.
According to MSNBC:
Lawrence: A bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun.
And yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter https://t.co/heze69kRDU

The point being, going up against a gunman armed with a rifle, with a handgun, is pointless.
Juliet Lapidos of of the LA Time said something similar.

Even Joyce Carole Oats, in her own stupid, know-nothing way, had the same belief.
how could a single school guard, armed with a conventional weapon, expect to confront & "kill" an individual w/ AK-15 who has methodically plotted an attack? isn't this demanding of the guard that he sacrifice his life? would NRA pay his widow a bonus?

This entire argument in regards to the Parkland shooting is a load of dangerous horseshit.
There are trends we see in school shootings.
School shooters try to inflict as many casualties as they can as fast as they can. School shooters routinely commit suicide as soon as they experience armed resistance.
- Adam Lanza shot himself when he heard the sirens.
- Senug-Hui Cho shot himself once the police got into the building he was in.
- Eric Harris and Daniel Kelbold bot shot themselves in the library after they rampage had ended.
Nikolas Cruz left the school and went to McDonald’s where he was taken alive, and unarmed by police.
This is important information to understand in developing tactics to deal with school shooters.
#1: Do not hesitate. As soon as the shooting starts, run towards the sound of gunfire.
That is the most important. The longer you wait, the more casualties there will be.
Here is where the “you can’t expect police with handguns to engage a shooter with a rifle” starts to fall apart. Sure, I’m not going to want to take a 9mm handgun against a rifle on the battlefield, but that is a very different scenario from a school shooting.
First of all, ranges are limited. Maybe 25 to 50 yards for an auditorium or a long hallway. That is still well within the lethal effective range of a handgun.
Second, yes, rifles are more powerful, but those buildings are almost universally concrete block. A 223 out of an AR-15 isn’t going to penetrate a cinder block wall any better than a pistol. A cinder block was is adequate cover against a AR-15 at close range.
I don’t give a shit if cops aren’t trained to shoot accurately over that distance. That leads me to the second most important rule of responding to a school shooting.
#2A. Shoot at that son-of-a-bitch. Shoot at him a lot. Most likely, he will kill himself as soon as rounds start coming his way. A dead shooter is a dead shooter, if the bullet that does it comes from a cop or his own gun, doesn’t matter. END THE FIGHT.
#2B. If he doesn’t kill himself right away, keep fucking shooting at him. The more distracted he is being shot at by police, the less focused he will be on killing innocents. Every second the shooter is taking cover from a cop is a second he is not shooting at kids. A cop carrying a modern double stack 9mm or 40 S&W has roughly 45 rounds on his body. ALL OF THEM should be on their way to the shooter as fast as possible.
The military calls that covering fire. It is why it issues belt fed weapons, and the Army fires 250,000 rounds for every dead insurgent in Iraq. We learned back in WWI, that magazine cutoffs and slow rates of fire was ineffective in battle. That was after the Seventh Calvary with single shot rifles was over run by Indians with Henry Repeaters. Volume of fire matters in situations like that.
Look back at the famous 1997, North Hollywood Bank of America shootout.
From a police preparedness situation, it was a disaster. The cops only had handguns. The two bank robbers were armed with FULLY AUTOMATIC weapons, converted from semi-auto. They were wearing heavy body armor.
The main firefight was in the parking lot of the Bank of America building.
A number of police went to a gun store to borrow AR-15’s to fight the men in body armor. That did little to turn the tide of the fight. One of the robbers, Larry Phillips, shot himself in the head after being cornered and wounded by police. The other was shot by SWAT and bled out while handcuffed.
The sheer volume of fire laid down by police allowed an armored car to move into the parking lot and rescue the wounded.
This was a bank robbery, not a school shooting, and still we saw how firing on the bad guy and cornering him was enough to make him kill himself, while distracting the robbers from shooting at innocent civilians in the bank.
Apply this tactic to school shootings, it will be even more effective.
In the last 24 hours we learned that not just did the coward Scot Peterson not engage, but a total of four Broward Sheriff Deputies not enter the school.
Four Deputies is 180 rounds, the equivalent of a US Army infantry trooper’s battle load. That would have been enough of a distraction to stop Cruz from shooting at the kids, even if not a single Sheriff’s round actually hit him.
The other pile of horse shit the media is spreading about this incident is that it disproves the “good guy with a gun” idea
So FOUR 'good guys with a gun' were not able to stop the bad guy.
I think this kinda ends the 'arm the teachers' bullsh*t, don't you? https://t.co/hVHtw7negn— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 23, 2018

A good guy with a gun only stops a bad guy with a gun ONLY WHEN HE USES HIS FUCKING GUN!
Being a chicken shit outside doesn’t do fuck all.
From everything we know about the psychology of school shooters a single CCW firing at the shooter with a compact 9mm or 38 snub nose would have done a whole lot more than four cops with piss running down their legs outside.
In situations like this, the number one goal is to save innocent lives. Anything that keeps the shooter from shooting at innocents is a step in the right direction.
AND THAT IS THE FUCKING POINT!
They went ahead and pissed off LawDog.
An epic rant that only he can deliver.
And — quite frankly — if you wear a badge, and you hide behind a car while children under your protection are getting killed, you should have the common [deleted] decency to take your sidearm, find a quiet country road somewhere, and Do The Proper Thing.
If we were ***holes…
We would start our own campaign to pressure vendor into stopping doing business with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. No more guns sold to BSO, no more ammo, no vests, no uniforms, etc.
But NRA members are classy people who understand that not all BSO deputies are a shit like the Sheriff or the cowardly scum that stayed outside when kids were being mowed down by Nick Cruz.
So, no boycott. In fact let them buy as much shit as they want since the same companies do support the NRA with contributions.
It’s Too Late – Broward County School Board Beginning to Admit Their Mistakes? – The Last Refuge.
Broward County schools intentionally created polices from 2011 through 2015 that culminated in the 2018 mass school shooting in Parkland. We know this with great specificity because five years ago we warned Broward County Florida school board members this could happen.

Not only read this article, but digest the entire investigation.
Fair warning, you will be pissed off when you are done.

A necessary celebration of cowardice: Defending Deputy Scot Peterson.
The Left has swiftly moved to celebrate and defend Beta Man/Pajama Boy with a badge. What Deputy Peterson did has to be normalized, it has to be excused. That an adult will not and must not risk his or her life to defend Children has to be considered natural even though defending the young ones is one of the most basic instincts across evolved species. Mama Bear is a myth and daddies really don’t give a shit about their daughters has to be the new normal.
And it is all for a reason. As many found out the hard way by the failing actions of Scot Peterson and three other deputies who failed to go inside the school, you are your own and only first responder. And that is a troubling truth that the Gun Control does not want to be heard because it destroys the altar of Gun Free Zones and the belief that only the Government is capable and thus allowed to defend you. If that goes unchallenged, they cannot stop arming teachers and eventually the elimination of Gun Free Zones. And let’s face it: the corpses of school kids is a great fundraising call for Gun Control groups.
And at the same time they are defending the indefensible, they are fully fledged engaged into insulting teacher by calling them both cowards and unable to operate one of the simplest tools in history. And teacher reps are gladly repeating this mantra in front of every camera there is, confirming that his fellow pedagogues are just imbeciles that only by a miracle of Good are able to drive a vehicle without drooling all over themselves and end up in a ditch.
Here is a guy I engaged with earlier today. He turned out to be Brit, but since there is a lot of Liberals that seem to be Modern Anglophile, his thoughts match what we have been hearing and reading.
I called him on the contradiction of his statement by asking “if a teacher sees a killer coming towards her class, she will rather be unarmed and die or armed and suffer “from the human failing of self preservation’ as she shoots the asshole down?” It did not go well for him after that. He reluctantly admitted that Self-Defense is indeed a right of every human but he objected to guns and armed teachers. He reverted to the Wild West shtick and then… well it got a tad embarrassing:
Then he followed with the deluded definition of progress:
He disliked that but was polite about it. He went on to talk about his choice being not to have guns, but I reminded him that he really d
id not have a choice:
I closed (I was late with the “Honey-Do” list) by asking 2 simple questions: #1 Do you believe in the right for an individual to defend himself/herself? He answered, Yes.
Then it was to question #2: Why would you then deny them the best tools to do so?
He did not respond but to say we had different views and bid me a good day.
Ladies and gent, that is what we are fighting for: Freedom of Choice. The Opposition cannot allow a teacher to have the freedom to defend herself or she might demonstrate to the world that an armed woman can end Evil when it walks through the doors of her school. Instead of a Government-mandated Lamb, she is now Mama-Bear with her claws out and about to kill anybody threatening her cubs.
And if only once it were to happen that a Mass Killer gets stopped cold from collecting bodies by 60 year-old Mrs. Wilson, the Biology teacher, their prized concept of Gun Free Zones will collapse. Soon after citizens will challenge the concept of not being able to legally carry their weapons even if the are as law-abiding as the Packing Teacher and they would eventually win, either in court or in the Legislature. That would be a calamity for the Gun Control Movement.
BSO: When your department not only f***s up but takes credit for stuff it did not do.
(CNN)When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff’s deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.
Some Coral Springs police were stunned and upset that the four original Broward County Sheriff’s deputies who were first on the scene did not appear to join them as they entered the school, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. It’s unclear whether the shooter was still in the building when they arrived.
Sources: Coral Springs police upset at some Broward deputies for not entering school
Somebody in Twitter commented this morning when only the news of the School Resource Officer was out, that the only way Broward Sheriff’s Office could done a worse job was to hand Nick Cruz the rifle and send him inside the school. Apparently the story is now “Hold my beer and watch this.” and it does not end there.
The resentment among Coral Springs officials toward Broward County officials about what they perceived to be a dereliction of duty may have reached a boiling point at a vigil the night of February 15, where, in front of dozens of others, Coral Springs City Manager Mike Goodrum confronted Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. A source familiar with the conversation tells CNN that Goodrum was upset that the Broward deputies had remained outside the school while kids inside could have been bleeding out, among other reasons.
That was the night of the day after the shooting. Sheriff Israel already knew his deputies screwed up, yet he strutted in the Children’s Crusade Town Hall like he was the savior of the world and Keeper of All That Was Morally Pure in Broward county.
But wait, there is more!
Two days after the shooting, Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi addressed some of the concerns voiced by his officers in an internal email obtained by CNN that said, among other items, “I understand that another agency has given the impression that it had provided the majority of the rescue efforts, and that the tremendous work of the Coral Springs Police and Fire Departments has not been recognized. Please know that this issue will be addressed, and the truth will come out in time. The focus for us now, however, must be on healing — for ourselves, our families, our community and those residents surrounding us. While recognition is not the reason we choose to do what we do, our Commission, City Manager and residents are well aware of the actions our members took in the face of danger and the heroes that you are.”
I am nauseated and at the same time, not surprised that the BSO honchos would go so low as to take claim for some other department’s work. Not for nothing, but good deputies will have the stain of being associated forever with a department that is being called “Cowards Sheriff Office.”
And yes, Sheriff Israel will be re-elected. It is Broward County, Democratic Party stronghold and land of one Debbie Wasserman Schulz.
But don’t forget: It is the fault of the NRA and its members.
