Amazon pulls out of New York headquarters plan

After a long and contentions bid war, New York City won the contract to be home to Amazon’s second headquarters.  The project was expected to create somewhere between 25,000 and 40,000 jobs.

Some were going to be people brought in, but most of them were expected to be local hires.  Many of them good paying, white collar tech jobs.

Part of the package negotiated with Amazon was tax rebates.  This is par for the course when a big company looks to relocate or build another facility.  Cities and states will lower property and corporate income taxes for some period of time in exchange for the promise of some minimum number of jobs and an expectation that the company will build up the infrastructure of the area.  The city and state will recoup more money from the economic growth that occurs.

If you wonder why Kimber is relocating to Troy, Alabama, it’s the same reason.  They are getting a lot of tax breaks and help to build a factory in an economically depressed area of the state.

You have to spend money to make money.

Well, this pissed off some of the hard Lefties in NYC.  Tax breaks for billionaires and corporations rubs them the wrong way because they don’t understand economics.

They pissed and moaned about the jobs not being good jobs, and it is true that Jeff Bezos is a piece of shit that runs his people ragged, but they still are jobs.

Well, after enough push back from the local Lefties, Amazon pulled the plug.

New York is not getting the 25,000-40,000 jobs, the state income taxes that go with them, and is instead left with a vacant lot.  Amazon made it clear why they were pulling out, too.

“After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens,” Amazon spokesperson Jodi Seth told ABC News.

The company wrote in a statement on its blog that the commitment to build a new headquarters requires “positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials,” but added that a number of politicians “have made it clear that they oppose our presence.”

Congresswoman She Guevara was thrilled over this.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo released his own statement on Amazon backing out.

A small group of politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community — which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City — the state’s economic future and the best interests of the people of this state.

Fuck….

So how did Rep. Maduro (D-NY 14th) respond to this.

Crickets.

Cuomo has Schumer’s ear, among other things.

Schumer is the most powerful Democrat in the Senate and, he and Pelosi are joined at the hip.

Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House and the most powerful person in Congress right now.

I have a a feeling that Cuomo told Schumer to tell Pelosi to make Occasional-Cortex shut the fuck up.

The thing is AOC is not know for staying silent.  She draws her power form social media and being in the spotlight.  So only time will tell if she listens.

The Amazon relocation was important to Schumer, especially with his budget shortfall as a result of him taxing the shit out of enough New Yorkers to make them flee to Florida.  Amazon pulling out is going to put his finances in an even tighter bind.

And it’s all AOC’s fault.

Cuomo is old school New York Italian.  I’m pretty sure the thought of having AOC end up in a landfill in New Jersey at least flashed through his head when he read the Amazon announcement.

The next couple of years is going to be fun to watch because Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez just started her first term in office and her first actual success at accomplishing something was to step on Governor Cuomo’s balls and kill his pet project.

I have the distinct feeling that Cuomo and Schumer are going to make AOC’s reelection campaign sleep with the fishes.

New York City electoral politics just became a season of The Sopranos.

At fist look this looks contradictory:

She is “surprised” to see homeless people (she would be the first New Yorker to do so) but celebrates that she helped to kill tens of thousands of jobs do no make it in New York.

As a good Communist, you help homeless by giving them government alms so they are always on your debt. When people earn money, they may develop this independent streak and protest you sucking their earnings with taxes to subsidize the homeless.

Despite the relentless mocking and economic criticism of the Green New Deal, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pushing forward trying to sell it nationally.

So here are just some things that I have noticed about the Green New Deal and the people who are pushing it in general.

They all LOVE President FDR.  FDR consolidated presidential power more than any other American president, even going so far as to try and stack the Supreme Court when they overturned some parts of his New Deal.

FDR interred the Japanese, and commissioned a plan to take Europe’s surviving Jews and ship them off the Madagascar, and then encourage America’s Jews to join them.

The Green New Deal, modeled in name after the New Deal, is the most radical transformation of a nation’s economy and social structure since the Great Leap Forward.  The original New Deal can’t hold a candle to the government takeover through regulation of business and private life that the Green New Deal offers.  To put it bluntly, the New Deal never sought to force veganism on people.  The Green New Deal will do just about that by reforming agriculture away from meat production.

These people love trains.

These people think that overpopulation is one of the problems facing the world and quite often refer to human beings as some form of disease afflicting the planet.

These people hate Nazis, Deplorables, Trumpanzees, Republicans, Conservatives, and pretty much everyone to the right of Bernie Sanders.

The fact is that we cannot generate the electricity we need off the sun and wind without nuclear power generation.

The Green New Deal will guarantee jobs, and possibly just paychecks, to everyone, meaning that the Green New Deal effectively nationalizes a major part of the workforce.  More specifically, a segment of the workforce that is too lazy or incompetent to do well in the private sector.

The Green New Deal is not zero carbon, it’s carbon neutral.

Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner wrote an article laying out why the Green New Deal would never work.

In a nutshell there are too many people working in too many states that are dependent on oil, coal, air travel, mining, ranching, etc. that have representation in the Senate to  pass it.

The Green New Deal might sound nice if you live in Manhattan or Silicon Valley and everything you want arrives by magic from Amazon Prime.  For everyone else, it is a disaster.

Klein puts it this way (bold added).

To be clear, when I use the term “revolution,” I do not mean it in the loose sense in which it is typically employed in the relatively stable world of American politics. Political scientists and authors may refer to the Reagan Revolution or the Gingrich Revolution or the Obama Revolution. Sen. Bernie Sanders often refers to his movement as a revolution, and many of his former 2016 volunteers took the name of his book, Our Revolution, and turned it into an organization that supported socialist candidates, including Ocasio-Cortez, in 2018.

When I say the “Green New Deal” would require a revolution, however, I don’t mean it in the sense that it would require electing new people with dramatically different ideas who would then work within the current system to pass and implement those ideas. I mean that it would require a disruption more along the lines of the Glorious Revolution of 1688, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, or the Chinese Communist Revolution. That is, it will require dramatic changes to the underlying structure of government.

Keep in mind, when you read the article, it is somewhere between a reminder of the insatiability of the Green New Deal and a warning against what it would take to implement it.

That’s a lot of Left wingers happy to kick off the mass murder of Middle America to implement eco-communism.

But it’s a good thing I’m not crazy or prone to tinfoil hat conspiracies, because I might add all of these points up and come to believe that a future iteration of the Great Green Leap Forward is going to involve the creation of “high speed mass mobilization railways” to transport those Deplorables to “biofuel power plants” rounded up by a goon squad of guaranteed green jobs holders.

It’s early in the morning and already I am seeing the media turning today into one year anniversary of the Parkland shooting anti-gun extravaganza.

Just remember, none of what happened there was your fault.

Nikolas Cruz pulled the trigger.

Teacher after teacher failed to call a code red and begin the lock down after seeing Cruz with a rifle but before he fired a single shot.

The chicken-shit Scot Peterson drove away from the sound of gunfire, hid behind a tree, and radioed bad information to other SBO deputies, with piss running down his leg.

Diversity hire Captain Jan Jordan’s tits failed her in a moment of crisis and she lost control of the scene and blamed the BSO’s faulty radio system for it.

The other responding officers took the “may attempt to respond” part of the department’s active shooter policy seriously and decided to park 1,000 feet from the school and take more than 10 minutes to put on their armor, and pretty much drag their feet until the danger had passed.

The deputy watching the school surveillance video knew it was on a time delay but didn’t bother to tell anybody that information.

The BSO prevented other trained first responders from entering the scene or airlifting the critically wounded because they had no idea where Nikolas Cruz was, after their snails pace response allowed Cruz to get away and go for a Coke.

Disgraced Sheriff Scott Israel said that he had “amazing leadership” and took no responsibility for this law enforcement cluster-fuck, despite it being the second one of its kind on his watch.

And still, the media is going to try and blame you for 17 kids that were killed a year ago today.

Your support or membership in the NRA didn’t kill 17 kids.

Your AR-15 didn’t kill 17 kids.

Your belief in the gun rights of law abiding citizens didn’t kill 17 kids.

A known, disturbed, young man with a recorded history of violent behavior killed those 17 kids; aided and abetted by the fuck-ass screaming incompetence of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and the self-serving, bureaucratic Broward County School Board.

You did nothing wrong.

This week the Governor of New York blamed budget shortfalls on the state of Florida.

He said New Yorkers are fleeing to the sunshine state to save big time on taxes.

It all goes back to the tax reform passed by Congress. The changes increased the incentive to move to the sunshine state dramatically.

And that is gonna be our future problem. We are going to have voters that will default to the same idiocies they are escaping because it is what they know. Next thing you know, we are voted to hell with gun control and taxes and stupid feel good legislations.  Don’t forget that Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Forest Hills, NY.

A lot of African Safaris are just your basic cull hunting to manage the number of animals. The best explanation I have seen and specific for elephants was by a Facebook friend and I had to share.

Remember, without regulated legal hunting, an elephant is just a 6 tonne rat that destroys their crops to the locals, and they *will* cooperate with poachers to exterminate as many of them as possible.

Where regulated hunting is legal, the locals protect the herd from poachers, up to and including “shoot, shovel, and shut up” on the poachers (where the government doesn’t also put a bounty on dead poachers, anyway…)

Cull hunts are widely misunderstood, but there are usually very good conservation reasons to have them with large mammals.

As for big predators, substitute crops for cattle, goats and humans and you the idea.
