Why are anti-gun activists so violent – Washington edition

I covered the beginning of this story a little over a week ago.  Washington Ballot Initiate I-1639 was a massive sweeping restriction in gun rights across the state.  It is so restrictive that the Constitutionality of the law is being challenged in the courts.

A number of sheriffs in rural Washington counties have decided that they are not going to enforce I-1639 until the courts come to a decision on the law.

This has put the state attorney general at odds with those sheriffs.

Washington’s attorney general says he’ll defend gun law some sheriffs call unconstitutional

Police chiefs who refuse to enforce Washington state’s new gun restrictions could be liable if that refusal results in someone buying a gun and committing a crime, state Attorney General Bob Ferguson says.

The Seattle Times reported that sheriffs from 13 of the state’s 39 counties have signaled they won’t enforce the law. The Chinook Observer put that number at 20.

In an open letter on Tuesday, Ferguson called out police chiefs and sheriffs who are refusing to enforce the law: “In the event a police chief or sheriff refuses to perform the background check required by Initiative 1639, they could be held liable if there is a sale or transfer of a firearm to a dangerous individual prohibited from possessing a firearm and that individual uses that firearm to do harm.”

The letter also said, “Local law enforcement officials are entitled to their opinions about the constitutionality of any law, but those personal views do not absolve us of our duty to enforce Washington laws and protect the public.”

All I can say is fuck the Washington state AG.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s executive order EO-17-01 makes Washington state a sanctuary state, in full violation of Federal immigration laws.

So what we have here is the Washington AG simultaneously saying:

  1. WA sheriffs must enforce a potentially unconstitutional gun control law, because it’s the law, and if they don’t and someone gets hurt, they (the sheriffs) will be liable.
  2. WA sheriffs cannot enforce Federal immigration law and if some illegal hurts a WA citizen, none of the people who passed the Sanctuary State law will be held liable.

That is some incredible brass plated partisan hypocrisy.

My feeling is that if the AG does carry out this threat and holds a rural sheriff liable for a gun crime because of their failure to enforce I-1639, than the next time some illegal rapes, assaults, or kills a WA resident, the sheriffs raid the Governor’s residence with a SWAT team and drag the Governor out in handcuffs.

But I digress, this isn’t about the piece of shit Governor or AG, this is about violent anti-gun activists.

WASHINGTON MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY VOWING SHERIFFS WHO OPPOSE GUN CONTROL LAW ‘WILL BE SHOT. BY ME.’

Around dinner time on Feb. 1, Jaydin Ledford’s ultra-left leaning commentaries took a twisted turn. He went on the offensive and quickly landed himself on law enforcement’s radar, and ultimately behind bars.

“I love how all my nightmares come true,” a self-indulgent Ledford, 23, posted early in the day.

On that day and stretching until Feb. 4, the self-proclaimed Marxist (who also claims to “speak for the trees”) teed up a series of deleterious threats aimed squarely at Washington State sheriffs.

“I-1639 is law,” read one of screeds composed by Ledford, whose Facebook profile photo features a headshot snap of a burly Karl Marx wearing a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

“sheriffs that are non compliant will be shot. by me.”

At least one of Ledford’s posts called out Spokane Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich.

“Ozzie Knezovich is gonna get a bullet in his skull,” it read.

When Knezovich learned about the posts from Ledford (who hadn’t been named yet) and that he allegedly “wanted to put a bullet in my brain” he explained that the tactic of “bullying” won’t work and that the threat was actually one of many for the past few years.

He also found Ledford’s messaging to be quite “ironic.”

“This is an individual who wants to ban guns — except he wants to kill people,” the puzzled sheriff said.

It’s not ironic.  This nut job is a full fledged Marxist Communist.  His entire outlook on life is that he, as a member of the Revolution, is special and everyone else are proles.  You can’t have a gun because you are a prole, the sheriffs must enforce the laws that disarm the proles, but he as a Marxist leader has the right to guns and to kill the sheriffs who don’t enforce the laws he likes.

Look at how many of the anti-gun elite have their own armed guards or how many of the environmentalist Green New Deal supporters spend half their travel time on private planes.

This is straight out of Animal Farm and has been this way since the beginning of the Communist Revolution.

Comrades!’ he cried. ‘You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink the milk and eat those apples.

Ledford needs his milk and apples guns to manage the welfare of the proles who can’t be trusted with guns because they are too violent.

Once again, we have to point out, it’s not the gun rights activists but the anti-gun activists who are the violent nut jobs.

Benchmade: The Un-Apology

When asked specifically, Les stated, “Our recent political contributions have been in favor of state-level legislation supporting a strong manufacturing and business environment here in Oregon while protecting knife owners across the United States in the form of the Interstate Transport Act.”

When you apologize, it is always a good idea not to lie as it keeps insulting those you are supposed to make amends to. One somebody says “recent political contributions” you are talking one of two elections cycles, 4 years top, right? But if your family has been supporting Democrats with a record for supporting gun control for over 15 years, you need to get the word “recent” removed from the statement.

Now, besides being a liar, you are a political ingenue if you think tossing a few drachmas inside those democrat’s coffers will actually protect you from all evil. The don’t like you. You make weapons and they do not like that. For fuck’s sakes, blades have injured and killed more people than “assault rifles” and you manufacture them. Do you actually thing you are going to flood the market with knives if guns are banned? Are you seriously that stupid? Don’t you think that you will go the way of England?

This is the future you are supporting:

When you make a deal with the Devil, you usually wake up Sunday morning with your ass hurting and smelling of brimstone.

“And the VODA award for Crappy Tactical Instruction goes to…”

They are supposed to be a school in the West Coast. I know that the fourth shot goes above the berm. The way he “cleared” the door is a great example NOT to repeat. Target on the left was missed on first scan.

But fast dancing looks cool.

Body cam shooting from Napa Valley

From Fox News:

Man who shot at California cop previously deported, arrested but cops wouldn’t honor ICE detainer, feds say

The illegal immigrant killed Sunday in a shootout with a California cop had been deported three times and arrested and released over ICE’s objection on several occasions — including cases involving the very department whose officer took him down in a dramatic exchange caught on her body cam.

In a graphic, 48-second clip released Wednesday, body camera footage from Sunday’s traffic stop shows Javier Hernandez Morales rolling down his window, grabbing a handgun and opening fire. Napa County sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki narrowly avoided getting struck before running to the other side of the car, firing at least 15 shots into the red Honda.

Hernandez Morales, 48, died at the scene and the deputy was not seriously injured, officials said.

Here is the video from the Napa County Sheriff:

When in doubt, empty the magazine into the threat.

That really shows you just how fast shit and go south on you.  It wasn’t a fraction of a second between when you see the gun and when this asshole fires on the officer.

A second weapon – a loaded .22-caliber rifle – was found in the backseat of the Honda in addition to the pistol.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Hernandez Morales has been deported three times before 2011 – twice in 2007 and once again in 2010.

Since then, ICE had issued four separate detainers for him related to various arrests including suspicion of driving under the influence, battery on a peace officer and unknown probation violations.

So we have an illegal immigrant with multiple convictions and deportations in possession of two guns.

Exactly how did that happen in California.  California has such strict gun laws.  Clearly this must be the fault of the NRA.

Thank God, training, and pure dumb luck that this police officer wasn’t killed in this incident.

Like Clint Smith says, when faced with someone trying to kill you “shoot till it’s empty.”

The AP doesn’t understand gun laws and I did a lot of searching for the answer

I have seen a lot of articles about the gun bill screw up in Ohio.

A common source article for other reports is one from the AP.

Ohio lawmakers studying error that could ban some guns

A mistake in writing up an Ohio bill could inadvertently ban several types of already legal guns and must be fixed quickly, gun rights advocates say.

At issue is legislation approved by lawmakers last year that allows off-duty police officers to carry firearms and phases in pre-emption of many local firearms restrictions, among other changes.

The bill also attempted to align Ohio law with federal law regarding short-barrel weapons, or generally speaking shotguns with barrel lengths less than 16 inches.

Such guns are legal under federal law but classified as illegal in Ohio, even though many gun stores sell them. As the bill was being drafted, a misplaced paragraph unintentionally lumped a variety of long guns into a prohibited category.

Those could include semi-automatic AK-47s and any long gun with a pistol grip, which could also affect shotguns used in competitive shooting.

What?  Shotguns with barrels less than 16 inches are NFA items and are generally illegal.  I don’t know if Ohio bans NFA items, like Illinois does, so that you can’t get them at all.

I did a lot of searching to figure out what is going on here, and finally came across this article in the Springfield Sun-News.

Mistake in Ohio bill would make millions of gun owners lawbreakers

A bill passed in the Statehouse would inadvertently make a million Ohio gun owners lawbreakers.

House Bill 228 was meant to expand stipulations in which shooting someone in self-defense is legally justified. But as it currently stands, when it becomes law on March 28 it also makes owning certain rifles, guns with pistol grips or a weapon longer than 26 inches a felony.

Finally, a source.  HB 228.

What exactly is the problem?

All the way down in the bill is the section on definitions.

Sec. 2923.11. As used in sections 2923.11 to 2923.24 of the Revised Code:

(K) “Dangerous ordnance” means any of the following, except as provided in division (L) of this section:

(7) Any firearm with an overall length of at least twenty- six inches that is approved for sale by the federal bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives under the “Gun Control Act of 1968,” 82 Stat. 1213, 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(3), but that is found by the bureau not to be regulated under the “National Firearms Act,” 68A Stat. 725 (1934), 26 U.S.C. 5845(a).

Okay, now I get what is going on.

The law bans a firearm with an overall length of 26 inches that is not an NFA item, which is just about every long gun in existence.

There are already bills in the house to strike this paragraph from the law so everybody with a long gun in Ohio doesn’t become a felon for having a long gun.

There are three lessons here.

First, the AP and all the reporters who quote the AP know absolutely Jack about guns and gun laws, which is why that nonsensical confusing paragraph was published.

Second, this is why so few people understand gun laws, because the media reports them for shit.

Third, this is an example of our legislative process turning to shit, that the language of a bill can become so mired in minutia that your average citizen doesn’t understand the law and may very well break it without intent.

Maybe Shakespeare was right.  Kill all the lawyers.

There should be a clause in our Constitution, that any law indented to regulate something should be understandable by a random selection of people to be regulated.

If you want to pass a law that regulates a civil liberty, if that law can’t be understood by 50 randomly selected US citizens, throw it out, because it is too complicated to be readily followed by the other 320 million citizens it applies to.
