Month: January 2020

They are coming hard for Florida.

You have seen all the posts I have been making and I promise, I will have one page where all the bills will be consolidated for easy reference.

Unfortunately, the total of Gun Control bills has climbed now to 39. I found more bills I have missed earlier and none are mild either.

Thirty Nine Gun Control Bills.  Digest that for a second.

Today, I am not even bothering to wish for a good bill to pass. I think they are gonna be swallowed in the tsunami of Bloomberg-Backed crap we are about to surf.  And truthfully I do not see Florida Gun owners motivated and much less scared about what we are about to face in the legislative trenches.

But apparently fishing in Palm Beach has been great.

Remember how on the AWB bills they want you to register your Evil Black Rifle with the State? Well, for being such good boys and girls, the state will promise to keep your registration confidential from prying eyes for a total of five years.  Ain’t them the most considerate people you will ever love?
/end sarcasm.

The first of several similar bills.
An “improved” version of the Assault Weapons Ban introduced by Dianne Feinstein after Sandy Hook. It expands the definition of Assault Weapon to even commonly used pistols.  Grandfathering with registration on this bill, but I really don’t give a damn about this little gift. Hugo Chavez is in his grave approving this and the other bills.

I am thoroughly confused by this bill. Is it saying that only Floridians with a CWL can make firearms transactions or that can have firearms transaction privately not going through an FFL?
I abrogate as manner of personal security to receipt for the transaction between private individuals and I do like to use the CWL as “Proof Of Good Guy,” but I do not like the State telling me who I can or cannot sale other than to a Prohibited Person.  Uncle Jose has never broken a law in his life and also never bothered to get a CWL because he does not like to carry. I know him all my life and wants to buy one of my shotguns to go gator hunting in the Glades, but I can’t sell it to him?  Bullcrap.

It makes it a Third Degree Felony to import, sell, transfer, buy, own or dream about any magazine or device that can hold more than 10 rounds or modified to do so.  No Grandfather clause.

This is one hell of a mixed bag. You will have to fill a State-Mandated Firearms Purchase form besides your ATF 4473 with information yet to be determined (and probably more than needed.) If you were to be denied, FDLE has to ring the alarm bells to pretty much every LEO agency they think might need to be involved.
FDLE also has to provide not only the info of the person denied but also the data of the person selling the firearm for investigation. Oh yes, this bill also includes Universal Background Checks! So now, a false denial gets in trouble not only the buyer of the gun but the good faith seller.  But hey, you are a Gun Nut so you are guilty till proven innocent, right?
Also, what is going to happen with those forms? Will they be kept by the FFL or eventually required to go into a state’s database creating a back door Gun Registration?
There is more stuff in that bill. Feel free to read and add your ideas.

Read the Text of the Bill.

I am going to confess I am a bit puzzled by this bill and I might be overreaching:

Does this mean that the simple accusation and/or arrest for Domestic Violence will make you a prohibited person in Florida? And then the bill goes into a description of a convoluted process to surrender or transfer firearms and also an automatic search warrant to search the location of a subject with a simple sworn statement by a third party saying he did not relinquish all guns and ammo. This last one should be interesting to see how gets abused by pissed off spouses.

If you have a better explanation for the bill, I ask you to leave your thoughts in the comments..
