Elliot Page released an Instagram post announcing that he is transgender—but many fans of the Umbrella Academy and Juno actor were unhappy with the way that the news was reported. Particularly, fans, member of the LGBTQ+ communities and allies were displeased at the media’s continued use of the actor’s birth name—or, as it is known among the trans community, his “deadname.”

And for the love of God, she choose the name Elliot? The last cool Elliot was Ness and only because Kevin Costner did a great job in The Untouchables which is a lot more to say for any movie she has done. (And yes, Juno sucked) And you have the right to change your name, no problem there, but choose something less dorky, hell make up a name for all I care, but don’t waste the chance by selecting the name that would have gotten you stuffed in the locker room in school.

And dear Trans Community: Making up words like “Deadname” that sound like picked right out of the Newspeak Dictionary, does not make you look smart or edgy or brave but downright moronic and full fledged fascist.

Unattended child shoots self in leg in Decatur Publix parking lot

Decatur police are investigating how a young boy shot himself in the leg in the parking lot of a grocery store this morning.

A police spokeswoman said the incident happened at 11:52 a.m. in the parking lot of Publix off Beltline Road S.W.

The child was left unattended in the car with his sister while their parents were in the store shopping, authorities say. Somehow the boy got the gun, which was loaded, and fired a round, shooting himself in the leg.

I have a gun in my car because I can’t carry it into work.  It’s locked in one of those cable lock pistol boxes made by a large, reputable gun safe manufacturer.

It has a cylinder lock on it.

The Lockpicking Cocksucking Motherfucker Lawyer hates cylinder ocks.  He has his special tool and picks them in seconds.

You know who doesn’t have a cylinder lock picking tool?

My six year old son.

So is a cable lock pistol box looped through the frame rails of the driver’s seat as secure as my over built Ft. Knox safe with the 1/4 inch thick body and S&G combination lock?

No.

Is it enough to keep my son from touching my gun if he gets out of his seat while sitting in the truck while I’m running into the gas station to get him a drink?

Yes it absolutely fucking is.

Is it enough to stop the guy why might open my door and grab what is lying on the seat while I’m pumping gas?

Almost certainly.

A $25 cylinder lock cable lock box is enough to do the job I expect of it under the circumstances I bought it for.

That it doesn’t give the Lockpicking Dipshit Lawyer a hard-on while he’s sitting at his table with his tools, he can go fuck himself with his cylinder lock picking tool.

Contrary to the “experts” Hotel room safes are good for the job they are intended to do: Fast grab-and-run jobs.

I may have mentioned a couple of times before (yeah, just a couple) that I worked hotel security and the majority of the problems we had with room safes was when the guest forgot the code followed far away by when batteries died. Theft from them? In 5 years I never logged a case nor knew of one in my hotel.

If you want to break into a room safe, the first thing you need to know is if the reward is high enough that will justify the risk. Again, have to know if there is a worthy loot.  An attack on a safe is a direct and conscious decision and an affair that can land you in prison for a decent amount of time. Getting caught for breaking in a safe full of Legos is simply not worth it.

Then it comes the realization that unless you have an inside person, you need to bypass two safety devices: The room’s door lock and then the safe. Here is where the real violations of safety begin. Housekeepers are supposed to clean a room with a door closed for their own security. Unfortunately some will keep the damn door open and even leave the room to get something they forgot or ran out of. The time it takes her to go and come back will be the time you would have to go into the room, break into the safe and then make an escape.

The other violation of security is done by the guest him/herself who does not make sure the door is properly closed or leaves it open because “they are just going down the hall to check on the folks and will be right back.” The number one call in our daily patrol logs was doors found open in occupied rooms. You know what never failed to amaze me? How people would leave a door propped open, be gone from the room and leave all their valuables a top of the effing dresser in full view of anybody walking by.

J Kb said something like he doubted he was going to be attacked by a Ocean’s 11 type crew and that goes the same for your hotel safe.  The purpose of the room safe is for when you develop that unexpected brain fart and leave the room door unsecured. And please, please, I beg you: Do not be “smart” and hide stuff in the room in places you think nobody will ever find. First, we know the room better than you and second (and mark my words) you will forget about it and go home without the hidden item.

And finally, I always like to quote from the movie “The Accidental Tourist,” a tear-jerker, but it hits one important point

“And most importantly, never take along anything on your journey so valuable or dear, that it’s loss would devastate you.”

And use the gorramed room safe.
