From Market Watch:

Biden administration suspends new oil, gas drilling permits on federal land

The Biden administration announced Thursday a 60-day suspension of new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits for U.S. lands and waters as officials moved quickly to reverse Trump administration policies on energy and the environment.

The suspension, part of a broad review of programs at the Department of Interior, went into effect immediately under an order signed Wednesday by Acting Interior Secretary Scott de la Vega. It follows Democratic President Joe Biden’s campaign pledge to halt new drilling on federal lands and end the leasing of publicly owned energy reserves as part of his plan to address climate change.

The order also applies to coal leases and permits, and blocks the approval of new mining plans. Land sales or exchanges and the hiring of senior-level staff at the agency also were suspended.

Biden’s move could be the first step in an eventual goal to ban all leases and permits to drill on federal land. Mineral leasing laws state that federal lands are for many uses, including extracting oil and gas, but the Democrat could set out to rewrite those laws, said Kevin Book, managing director at Clearview Energy Partners.

This was on top of killing the outstanding Keystone XL permits.

Then there was this from Forbes:

New Mexico Officials Taken Aback By Biden Assault On Oil And Gas

Officials in the state of New Mexico professed to be taken aback last week by President Joe Biden’s day-one decision to impose a 60-day moratorium on all oil and gas-related leasing and permitting actions on federal lands. It is a decision that will have major ramifications on the state budgets of New Mexico and other Western states, especially if it is extended beyond its initial term and backed up by Biden’s promised ban on hydraulic fracturing on federal lands.

A little more than 2 years ago, in September, 2018, I wrote about the half-billion dollar windfall the State of New Mexico had just received during the course of a single sale of oil and gas leases on federal lands in the state.

Some New Mexico officials are now trying to defend themselves by saying they didn’t anticipate the new President would issue such a ban, but such protests ring rather hollow given that they most assuredly did understand that Biden plans to move ahead with his fracking ban, which would for all intents and purposes have the same effect. After all, virtually 100% of the drilling activity in southeast New Mexico targets the various shale formations in the Delaware Basin, and all shale wells require a frac job in order to be productive. Thus, a ban on fracking is the same thing as a ban on leasing and drilling.

New Mexico’s Democratic Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, said through a spokeswoman that “Certainly we all understand the critical importance of this industry to New Mexico’s bottom line and of the imperative to diversify our state economy and energy portfolio.” and that’s all fine. But the reality is that she and her administration can strive to “diversify” the state’s energy portfolio all they want, but the state will still lose hundreds of millions of dollars every year should the Biden administration succeed in shutting down her state’s oil and gas business.

New Mexico voted 54% for Biden.  Not one week into this administration and their preferred candidate blew a half-billion-dollar hole right through the state’s budget.

Now I will turn to something I saw on Twitter:

In one stroke of a pen, Biden killed thousands of jobs, slit open a major artery of our economy, and destabilized the Middle East.

It’s hard to appreciate just how bad this is and is going to be.

As Miguel pointed out, Biden wants California to be the model of the United States.  Right now, California gas is touching $4 per gallon, almost $1.50 per gallon more than the national average.  California also has some of the highest electricity prices in the country.

The harm that will happen to Americans when they end up having to pay $4 per gallon for gas, or more, and as much on electricity as they do rent or mortgage, will be devastating.

Every day I am more convinced that the Guard troops in DC are intended to be a permanent fixture to prevent the backlash from the fallout of Biden trying to wipe out everything Trump did.

I’m convinced that because of memes like this that I’ve seen.

Blue Bloods ignores BLM Self-Flagellation

(Spoiler warning)

Most of the Cop shows I have seen so far this year have had some dosage of “ZOMG! There are bad White cops trampling on poor Black folks including Black Officers!”

But the one show bucking the trend (so far) has been Blue Bloods. First of all, they have touched on this subject long before BLM became cause celebre and very well done so they had a centipede’s worth of legs up.  And in the latest episode “Spilling Secrets” they actually go the other way.

Sean Reagan who is the son of Detective Danny Reagan, finds himself the target of anti-cop sentiment when he finds the acronym ACAB (All Cops Are Bastards) painted in his locker at school. Rather than be cowed and  beg for mercy and understanding, he finds out who did it and who helped do this hate/bully BS. Most interesting is that he confronts a teacher known to be anti-cop, but she confesses that after the riots in her neighborhood where “peaceful protestors”  (my words, not hers) were on a rampage setting cars on fire and looting, it was the cops who came and put their lives on the line to stop it which made her views on police change somewhat. Sean eventually finds out who did what and why and deals with the issues exquisitely and with grace while twisting the dagger.

So, an attaboy/girl goes to Blue Bloods not only for not playing the dumb  self-flagellation game but actually turning it around. Maybe the reason they are on their 11th season is they create content people like rather than what politicians and pundits decide is the flavor of the year.

Biden’s move to erase the legacy of Trump will kill diabetics and people with allergies

Biden’s HHS Freezes Trump Insulin, Epinephrine Rule Until March

The HHS Thursday froze the former Trump administration’s December drug policy that requires community health centers to pass on all their insulin and epinephrine discount savings to patients.

Centers that don’t pass on the savings wouldn’t qualify for federal grants. The rule, which was finalized in late December, is delayed until March 22, the Department of Health and Human Services said in a Federal Register post.

Former HHS leaders argued the drug rule would benefit patients who struggle to pay for expensive insulin and allergy medication. However, the health centers said they already pass on those savings and this rule is merely an administrative burden that paints them as entities that price-gouge patients. It’s not clear how many facilities would have to follow the rule or face funding restrictions.

That’s right, make insulin and epinephrine more expensive for poor people.

Great plan.

Another Trump policy reversed, and if some old people lose their feet or die, well, they probably voted for Trump anyway and deserve it.

Protester learns not to stand in front of a car and attack it the hard way – Update

There was a riot in Tacoma, Washington last night, because it was a weekend in Washington, and that is what Leftists in the Pacific North West do for fun.  They destroy property and burn shit to the ground LARPing like a Bolshevik Revolutionary.

A group of these rioters surrounded and attacked a police officer inside a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor.  Several of them believing that standing directly in front of the vehicle would magically stop the officer from moving forward, trapping him for a continued attack.

The thing is, physics and mechanical engineering doesn’t care about feelings.  A turbocharged six-cylinder, 4,000-lbs SUV will win in a game of chicken against frail human bodies powered fed a steady diet of soy lattes and microbrew.

I can’t disagree with the above sentiment.

That dude got run the fuck over.  Totally under the wheels.

Apparently, the police were responding to other people doing donuts at an intersection because chaos and anarchy is the way things are done in Washington state.

The guy had tire marks on him.  Hit so hard it knocked the shoes off his feet.

These rioters trust that the people they are terrorizing are not willing to harm them.

They believe that they can threaten to hurt, hurt, and possibly kill other people, but the people being attacked should and will cower and take it.

They simply assume that others will not fight back with force, especially lethal force.

That’s why they stand in front of cars.  They fundamentally believe that a threatened drive won’t stomp on the gas and turn them into human bowling pins and it shocked them to the core every time they are proven wrong.

What needs to happen is for these people to be run over every single time.  Eventually, it will dawn on them that trying to block a car and attack a driver is an act of suicide.

I just hope the video evidence is enough to exonerate the cop.  Hopefully dash cam footage will be released.

Update: more news.

It seems like this was a good shoot vehicular defensive action.

If that is on the dashcam video, this was entirely justified.

A Bit Foggy This Morning

Fog is still a weather phenomenon that freaks me out a bit, (only beaten by tornadoes). I know, I have gone through hurricanes, but a spot of low clouds makes me antsy? What can I tell you? I am not wired right.  And I get all cowardly if I have to drive…which I rather not as I am not ballsy enough to pay the odds of driving blind.
