This committee substitute text seems to have simplified the verbosity. IANAL but I don’t see anything negative with it.

 Notwithstanding any other law, for the purposes of safety, security, personal protection, or any other lawful purpose, a person licensed under this section may carry a concealed weapon or firearm on property owned, rented, leased, borrowed, or lawfully used by a church, synagogue, or other religious institution. This subsection does not limit the private property rights of a church, synagogue, or other religious institution to exercise control over property that the church, synagogue, or other religious institution owns, rents, leases, borrows, or lawfully uses.

I am guessing it now goes to the full floor to wait for the Senate’s companion bill.

Issuance of Licenses to Carry Concealed Weapons or Firearms: Requires DACS to maintain an online application process for issuance of licenses & prohibiting it from arbitrarily or subjectively restricting access; provides for award of reasonable costs & attorney fees in successful actions against DACS to enforce specified provisions.

Needs no explanation: Don’t mess with the CWL website. Marion Hammer from NRA / Unified Sportsmen of Florida waived in favor of the bill. Luis Valdez gave a quick but very insightful testimony also approving the bill. And the Hypocrite of the Day award goes to Representative Gottlieb (D) who opposed the bill but confessed to have a Concealed Weapons Permit and allegedly supports the Second Amendment.

Reported favorable 10-6 along party lines.  And the next stop should be the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee.

Preemption of Firearms and Ammunition Regulation: Provides that unwritten policies are subject to provisions allowing for recovery of damages if such policies violate specified provisions; provides that plaintiff challenging local government regulation concerning firearms may be considered prevailing plaintiff for certain purposes in specified circumstances.

Companion and identical bill as  SB 1884 I covered yesterday. It passed 10 to 6. Two Republicans apparently MIA (no idea why) and the 6 nays were strictly Democrats. Don’t forget that we have bills proposed by Democrats to get rid of State Pre-emption, so it is no surprise they hated this one.  NRA and GOA waived in support and National Organization for Women waived against and that was it.

Next stop should be Local Administration & Veterans Affairs Subcommittee.

The missus and I got the first Moderna shot. So far no X-Men type of mutation, no super powers and no melting.

The missus did say something about dumping me and the lady nurse told her that is not a side effect but actually proof that the vaccine is good…go figure.

I do suddenly hear the faintest of “beeps” inside my head like a beacon or something. 🙂
