Smollett released from Jail

“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was ordered released from jail Wednesday, after a court agreed to stay the sentence handed down by a judge last week, according to court documents.

Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail and probation after being convicted of falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in 2019.

A court Wednesday granted a motion that he be allowed to be freed on bond pending an appeal.

The motion asked that the sentence be stayed, or put on hold.

The same people celebrating this miscarriage of justice will be truly surprised and won’t understand when the rest of the crowd decides to bypass the Judicial system altogether and go back to use criminals as target practice while they hang from the nearest vertical rope holder.

Andrew Branca: Did Denver Shooter of Right-Wing Protester Just Get Away With Murder?

While there are certainly self-defense arguments that could be made here on behalf of Dolloff—and I’ve outlined many of those in the blog posts linked above—there would seem little doubt that Denver DA McCann has more than enough evidence in these photographs alone to amount to the probable cause needed to take Dolloff to trial on that initial charge of second-degree murder, if not some lesser-included charge such as manslaughter.

Instead, DA McCann has chosen not to try Dolloff on any charge whatever, with respect to his shooting dead of Keltner.

Prosecutors in America are given enormous discretion in deciding what cases to take to trial, and what cases to pass on.  Ideally, such decisions are based on the actual legal merits of the case.  Too often, such decisions are based on the political inclinations of the prosecutor.

“It is the Injun and not the arrow.” And AAR

In this case, it is the photographer and not the camera because I know I can’t take a picture that good.

Oleg Volk’s work, ladies and gents. Doing the impossible job of almost make me look decent.

And the shotgun is a Turkish Tokarev USA TX3 12HD. Based on the Remington 500 870, I believe and for that price it is a very nice Boarder-Repeller. The Ghost sight is amazingly easy to see and acquire targets with it. Loved the wood and I am not one who needs or drools after that stuff, but I have to admit it was a very nice looking. Shot several low recoil rounds through it and impacts were right where I was aiming and felt very comfortable to do so.

And Oleg mentioned setting the shotgun like this, and I want one now. Nothing says “Go away or be ready to have a miserable day” better than a trench gun.

Once again, the wish list of guns keeps growing.
