Tuesday Tunes

Postmodern Jukebox is an interesting group. They take different modern songs and then recreate them in different styles. In some cases, I feel that their version is better than the original.

Here is one that I like, so does my wife:

This one was recommended to me by Hagar:

Venison on the Hoof

I’m still feeling under the weather. Today was senior pictures day. Which meant I hauled out the camera gear. That’s multiple studio lights, multiple light stands, backdrop, and backdrop stands. And I forgot how to set the camera up.

I blame it on the illness. I should have set the aperture to f8 or smaller. Instead, I left it at F5.6 and spent the entire session fighting my lighting.

So you get to look at next years venison.

Israel removes Gun Control for cizizens….not exactly.

Itamar Ben-Gvir is the Minister of National Security of Israel. He posted the following in X 2 days ago.

  1. Granted that most if not all Israelis have served in the Military, but that also means if you are just a plain vanilla citizen, you are not allowed to defend yourself and yours… (We are the only ones, etc).
  2. Dear 4,000 Subjects, ye shall be granted the privilege (probably temporary) to obtain means of self-defense that you could not do before without encumbering you with doing all paperwork again.
  3. I am guessing you have the privilege of ownership of the item you paid for only if you have proved to your master you took the mandated instruction.
  4. Wait a fucking minute: I can only have a gun if I train, but I am only allowed to have 50 rounds on normal days? And you think you are magnanimous in allowing me 100 rounds when the fuckers attacking Israel carry twice as much and they are traveling in packs?

I did not know it was this bad.

I will say it again: Israel needs to develop a Roof Korean culture.

The globalized Intifada is here

On Saturday, Hamas made a sneak attack in Israel, during the Sabbath on the holiday of Simchat Torah, the last day of the week of Sukkot.

Hundres of Israeli civilians were killed, thousands were injured, and an unknown number were kidnapped and taken prisoners in Gaza

Today, in major American cities, there are people celebrating that barbarism.

Chicago:

New York City:

Tampa:

Salt Lake City:

These people are celebrating the killing of whole Jewish families, and then lie about the circumstances to justify their joy.

American Jews need to be aware that every single one of these people would have the same joy and reaction for your murder.

This is the globalized Intifada.

You are not safe.

The threat is here.

Get armed and prepare to defend yourselves.

A literal Red Dawn moment

I’m going to double down on what Miguel said yesterday.

This is why I am such a believer in gun rights and personal gun ownership.

In Israel, only active duty military have guns.  Reservists and civilians generally do not.  To obtain a gun permit as a civilian, you had to serve and reach, at a minimum, the rank of sergeant, which means you were career military.  Simply doing the minimum requirement of two years isn’t enough to qualify.

As Hamas penetrated the border wall and started going door to door to murder and kidnap Jews, these people had no defense.

They relied too heavily on the border way and the military to protect them.

You are your last line of defense.

When every other system of security fails, you are in your own.

Yesterday proved that even the best systems of security will fail.

You need to be prepared for when that happens.

Not if, when.

My hope is that after this is over, Israel learns that and changes its gun laws.

I hope no Israeli civilian is ever unarmed again.

TLA, BB, and Indigo Book

B.L.U.F.
Three letter acronyms, the Bluebook, and Indigo Book. Abbreviations and more.

(1200 words, mostly cut and paste tables)

Lawyers are verbose yet hate making things easy to read. They will use Latin when English will do just as well. They will abbreviate words in non-standard ways, they will make use of lingo and terms of art at every chance. Often, it feels like they want to make their work as opaque as possible.

Like every code, there is a codebook which explains how to encode and decode their secret messages. The official codebook of the lawyer creed is The Bluebook® A Uniform System of Citation®. Every official abbreviation is in this “book”.

If you are interested in using the Blue Book reference, prices tart a $39/year for personal use.

The Indigo Book is An Open and Compatible Implementation of A Uniform System of CitationThe Indigo Book

They are not authorized by nor in any way affiliated with the Blue Book people.

I have been told that I am starting to use too many abbreviations and that is making my articles more difficult to understand.

So you get some parts of the Indigo Book.
