Report: 376 officers rushed to Uvalde school but waited to confront lone gunman
Nearly 400 law enforcement officials rushed to a mass shooting at a Uvalde elementary school, but “systemic failures” created a chaotic scene that lasted more than an hour before the gunman who took 21 lives was finally confronted and killed, according to a report from investigators released Sunday.
“At Robb Elementary, law enforcement responders failed to adhere to their active shooter training, and they failed to prioritize saving innocent lives over their own safety,” the report said.
The report – the most complete account yet of the hesitant and haphazard response to the May 24 massacre at at Robb Elementary School – was written by an investigative committee from the Texas House of Representatives and released to family members Sunday.
According to the report, 376 law enforcement officers massed at the school. The overwhelming majority of those who responded were federal and state law enforcement. That included nearly 150 U.S. Border Patrol agents and 91 state police officials.
“Other than the attacker, the Committee did not find any ‘villains’ in the course of its investigation,” the report said. “There is no one to whom we can attribute malice or ill motives. Instead, we found systemic failures and egregiously poor decision making.”
The report noted that many of the hundreds of law enforcement responders who rushed to the school were better trained and equipped than the school district police – which the head of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the state police force, previously faulted for not going into the room sooner.
Three hundred and seventy-six law enforcement officers and only one had the balls and brains to go in and take the mass shooter out.
Holy fucking shit!
That many people with guns is the size of a fucking infantry company.
The Left is going to go monkey-shit over this about how one guy with an AR-15 was able to hold off 376 cops with guns, body armor, and ballistic shields, so QED AR-15s are too dangerous for civilians to own.
I ask the question: why the fuck do we sill have cops?
The only answer is that clearly police in America are just political enforcers and punitive tax collectors, because they are useless at actually protecting children in a crisis.
The old “when seconds count police are minutes away” is dead.
It’s now “when seconds count 400 cops will stand around getting hand sanitizer and checking their phones while you die screaming.”
On the other hand we have a shooting in IN which was ended in moments by a single armed man with no body armor, no ballistic shield, only a driving need to end it. Pistol v. Rifle and the Pistol won.
It’s worse than that. It’s closer in size to the number of front line troops an infantry battalion would send to storm a major objective.
The thing that puzzles me most of all is why any of the cops shown in those videos are still employed. If the local authorities aren’t firing them, they are complicit or covering up. If there is some union contract that prevents the firing, my answers are (a) fire them anyway and dare them to sue, and (b) if they win, make their jobs go away by disbanding the police department (then reconstituting it at a later time, if that is thought to be desirable).
So I’ve since seen that the hand santizier guy was told he was going to triage victims and the phone guy was checking his phone because his wife was a teacher and his kid a student there.
That doesn’t excuse the standing around, but it explains those sound bited video clips.
Then the phone coward should have started running toward his wife, that had just been shot, instantly. Fuck him anyway.
A – I didn’t say his wife had been shot, I don’t know if she was.
2 – We should strive for accuracy in our information regardless of what the anyone else does, that is why I was sharing the context I had seen about those two guys.
iii – I’ll refer you to the second sentence of my first comment.
